I changed my mind about new Pain Resonance.

I hate to admit that I was wrong, because I'd much rather keep being grouchy about all the things I don't like about the new update, but I was.

I had called it a C-tier perk even with the extra 25% regression, but that's really only true if you're playing with it exactly the way you played with old PR (using it as early and as often as you can). You can't spam it constantly anymore, which dramatically limits the kinds of things you can do with it, so it's still definitely a nerf, but.

While it's not an S-tier perk anymore, it's still A-tier or B-tier when used strategically in the right hands, and it's still useful for a few things.

It still pairs well with Deadlock — maybe even better than before. Since the main counter to Deadlock is 99%ing a gen and leaving it alone (and dry kicking doesn't do much since survivors will occasionally make sure to make sure it's tapped), being able to take 25% off of said gen at any point in the game completely counters that strategy.

It still pairs well with DMS, as always.

If you prefer a three-gen strat, you can pair it with Merciless and harass survivors off of gens once they get to 90%, then hook someone for PR value, and THEN come back and kick a gen (the one that was just blocked or a different one) with Pop for extra value.

The key to using new PR successfully is to use it strategically. Don't use it when gens are blocked unless you know what you're doing. Don't hook the first person you down on a Scourge Hook unless you know for a fact that someone else is almost done with a gen. Do pair it with Deadlock and use it when survivors 99% a gen. Do tunnel someone out and save 2-3 stacks for the endgame when survivors are already under pressure.

25% four times (more likely three, if you're playing well) is not anywhere near as useful as 15% an infinite number of times, but it still has a place. Pre-nerf Pain Res was an oppressive general regression perk, but using post-nerf Pain Res in the same way will just result in ~5-10% four times. Now, it's a very situational perk, but you can make some really mean and creative plays with it if you manage to utilize it properly.

    I've also used it and I've found it quite meh. The chances of you getting the full 100% or even 75% is really low. The rng can really screw you with both hook spawns and finding a fresh survivors.I would say it's a low b high c. It's a good complimentary perk.

    Imo it's not really worth the scourge title anymore.

    The new pain res is great for survivors and killers. Give good regression and promote less tunneling. I hope they buff the regression more so every killer would run it

    I use it less than I did on certain killers, but on others it's pretty dang good and fun to plan out. I do primarily run M1 killers and Jolt is my go-to for them, but Pain Res is great when I play Slinger or Trickster.

    It sucks. Every single time they finish the gen a second or two before I get the scourge hook and it ends up wasted. It's so frustrating

    Pain Resonance is still one of the best killer perks in the game. Regressing 100% of a gen for one perk is no joke. You definitely have to play much smarter with it now though, making sure there is a gen with at least 25% and it isn't blocked by another perk.

    I've had plenty of matches with 2 tokens left. Also head gens pop right before I've gotten the hook making me waste the PR because I've already committed to that hook and can't get to a different one before they wiggle off.

    Yeah, i've gave the perk some hate, but i now see its not bad as i've thought. TBH, i feel like its not because the perk is "balanced", but because the healing changes really are making a difference in how the matches are being played, so regression does not need to be constant and strong as it was before.

    It became quite a strategic perk to use. Maybe a B-Tier perk (but all killer regression perks now are B-Tier at max, so...). Its good when you not want to waste time kicking gens.

    I was wrong too. Because regression got uh...changed, I have a new Spirit build I actually like. Pop, Pain Res, Stbfl, and Deadlock. It's not really hard regression and requires me to down people to get value

    If i had tge choice between the current one or the old one i would choose the current one anytime.

    Stronger but finite slowdown early is better then weaker but infinite slowdown eventually imo.

    The new one is also way more concistant. You only need 4 scourge hooks in a match to get full vallue. Where the old one every scourge hook you missed was vallue you would never get. You save so much time not having to search for a scourge hook on people you already PR'd

    On top of that you rarely need to sacrifice people on scourge hooks anymore so you don't need to hurt yourself anymore to get full vallue

    Probably unpopular oppinion but PR's rework is one of the best we have ever seen. Made the perk stronger overall but also promote more healthy gameplay.
