Should we have gen speed/slowdown perks?

Generators are essentially the 'timer' of DBD. The killer needs to try and get their objective done before the survivors complete all the gens and leave, and the survivors need to try and complete all the gens and leave before the killer kills them. Yes there's the endgame section but the majority of the game is completing the gens and when the gens are completed it severely limits the killer's potential of making pressure and also limits meaningful plays the killer can make.

Because the gens being completed or not is basically -the- most important thing in the game, it's meant that strong, reliable perks that speed-up or slowdown gens are often meta, though this is most apparent on killer side due to their perks having a greater effect on gens than most survivor perks. Gen slowdown basically just gives the killer more time in a match, which is argueably -the- most useful thing they can bring, and survivors shaving time off gens takes time away from the killer to actually kill them, huge for them.

BHVR has struggled quite a bit with balancing these kind of perks, too strong and they're auto-include 'must pick' perks, but if they're too careful and reign them in, then they're just way too negligible to ever want to use.

My question is, should there even be perks that effect the game's 'timer'? With how much they've been nerfing slowdown, coupled with how conservative they often are with gen-speed perks for survivor, it seems BHVR is really struggling in that area.

yeah. game would be stale without them. It would also feel like a literal timer rather than a progression throughout the match.

I think they have their place but I definitely want to see less stackable synergies and more stand alone perks that don't interact well with others, especially in the case of survivors when all survivors can run an identical setup.
