I can't add my friend

My friend uses Game Pass on the xbox pc to play, while I play directly from epic games,

however, I can't add him as a friend, not even his name appears in the search.

Can someone help me?

Remembering that we both have crossplay activated, even though we are both on the pc and he is playing using the game pass.
