Is using a crosshair overlay banable?

Is there any issue with using a crosshair overlay like crosshair v2 via steam in DBD? Is there a risk to get banned for it or is it completely fine?

Easy Anti-Cheat, in theory at least (how well it does that is questionable) scans for things that modify how the game itself works. A overlay on top of the game that shows a crosshair isn't something it's going to detect, same with the crazy filters. If that were the case, the "Dixper" and "Streamloots" clients that many streamers use to add fun interaction to their streams would be banned, and they are not.

That said, I completely agree with the above posted developer comment.

Actually to add to the comment above, the "list" of what is "whitelisted" by EAC is not public any longer. As with any 3rd party: its not condoned or recommended, and while you will not get a ban from BHVR, if EAC picks it up, BHVR cannot unban you. It would have to be appealed with the EAC itself.
