(Seriously) Why Do People Run Away From The Killer And Only Look Forwards?
Youd think with a Killer chasing them, some Survivors would look back to see where the Killer is, or just see what is chasing them, but nope, they just run in a straight line away from the Killer while facing forwards the entire time.
I seriously do not understand how people just look forwards and not even try to look back. Like, surely there is some internal part of them that at least WANTS to look back, see the thing that is chasing them, but it does not really seem like that.
Obviously some of this comes with experience, mainly knowing where you are, and where the Killer is, and reacting according, but I think looking back is something that should not be tied to experience with DBD, it's just a general thing you do, since ya know, you do it in other games as well.

Shhh don't give good advice, its unwelcome here.

I always assume they are new, but then I wonder why they are in my lobby, a p100 blight with thousands and thousands of hours and a kill rate that’s probably in the 90%’s.
Especially the ones that just run through a pallet and drop it, failing to see me running around it and meeting them on the other side. It always makes me chuckle. Lol

careful. people like these got slinger nerfed.

To be honest I had to search up a video on how to do it with mouse and keyboard because I didn't know since I was new. It was the first thing I practiced. I kept playing really badly in customs so just switched back to controller because I find it more comfortable.
I still don't understand why I have people playing like that in my solo queue games though, surely if you have the ability to look back you would do that, especially with the amount of hours they seemingly have.

If I can't see them, they aren't real.

I look back when it's kinda safe to see (meaning I want bump into anything looking back). That's something to improve on for sure.

The camera turning with the controller sticks is slow, even at max sensitivity, and never feels natural compared to your movement speed. The dead zones with those sticks make it even worse, in both roles.
If I'm not careful when playing killer I won't notice survs following me around at all. I've seen comments about that very thing when survs speak about versing "console killers".

Against a lot of killers, it doesn't make a difference. They're chasing me and the audio indicators will give a pretty good idea how close they are. If its something like a Slinger or Blight I have to keep eyes on them, but otherwise the risk of running into something outweighs knowing just how exactly close the killer is. Even killers like Wesker or Huntress give clear audio indications on what they are doing and if you need to be evasive.

A lot of people just play games super super casually and simply don't care about improving

It depends on what your spatial skills are like. 85% of the time, if I look backwards, I run into a wall. I'll try to sneak a look over my shoulder when I have nothing in front of me, but I'll never be one of those players who stares over their shoulder the whole time.

Against many killers it doesn't really give much of an advantage, and you always run the risk of running into a wall and ruining the chase anyway. You can judge by the sound and red stain how close they are anyhow. Heck you can run Spine Chill (until the nerf) to literally give you a meter of how close they're getting without even looking.
Deathslinger is a big exception where you need to look back at him, but even Huntress gives a grunt so you know when to mindgame.
