Missed a mask in a really unfortunate way

Shortly before the exit gates were open I managed to get to a pillar. The moment I finished it, the exit gates opened.

As you can see, the game gave me the invitation on the lower left

But because it was a tad too late, the game didn't register that invitation when the gates opened, so I didn't get a mask. Instead I get a funny story to tell
