Seasonal Maps

With a few of the most recent events there have been certain maps that were given a little extra attention (Ormond's Christmas display, the Chapel's Anniversary decorations) and I thought it might be interesting if there were maps designated specifically for certain events playable only during those periods.

That's not to say removing the decorations on hooks/generators/lockers/fire barrels on the other maps, but just having a singular map that really goes all-out that you'll only have the chance to play on during those specific times of year, maybe cranked up with a higher pick rate than the normal maps.


  • LUNAR NEW YEAR: Yamaoka Estate, maybe a festival area, lanterns everywhere, I feel like the devs could really amplify the vibe given how much love they'd put into the decorations for this year's anniversary. Golden dragon statues, maybe an animal motif that can be changed based on which year of the zodiac we're celebrating?


  • ANNIVERSARY: Father Campbell's Chapel got decked out for this year, so if we wanted to stay on that vibe we could, but one of my friends mentioned that they never got the chance to really check it out when they played that map because when they went into the main building it was just to get the generator done and then continued on to the next objective (I personally kept forgetting it was decorated until I was mid-chase inside, but I thought they did a nice job of things.) Maybe we could add a new map for Léry's Memorial Institute that's just entirely within the festive spirit. Why Léry's? I dunno. I'm not crazy about indoor maps, but I do remember how much more I appreciated Hawkins once I knew we would lose it, so if we're only playing on this one for 3-ish weeks, people might feel more kindly toward it?


  • SUMMER BARBEQUE: My instinct was to say Coldwind Farms (because it has a summer vibe,) but it already has enough maps to it, so instead I'm going to say Grave of Glenvale. A further addendum to the old western town, but with more houses, maybe just a farm with a slaughterhouse that could provide the meat for the celebration. Granted, the margarita machines may feel out of place there, so instead the Withered Isle could provide the right kind of paradigm shifting scenery that would lend itself to the zaniness of this event.


  • HALLOWEEN: Crotus Prenn Asylum, a graveyard that includes a field of pustula plants, maybe a mausoleum or funeral parlor that could lend itself to being the main building. I'm picturing everything just completely decked out with jackolanterns and bats flying over head.


  • CHRISTMAS: Mount Ormond, a different part of the resort showcasing more of the lodging areas/where people would conglomerate at night when the ski lifts shut down. You could even add a small forested area where all of the trees are decorated (a la NS4A2.)


I'd be interested to hear what other people think about maps that would only be available for a few weeks every year - might spice things up a little, but might be seen as a waste of time for the developers since they have so much else going on.
