As the above said, dodge chains and be mindful of the box. The whole team needs to be mindful of the box and where pinhead is as him getting the box is always bad. The box from what I remember spawns furthest away from everybody, including larry. Basically your playing keep away with a very dangerous toy.

Best counter to Pinhead is good teamwork. If you get matched with bad team mates it's usually ggs. I've had team mates trying to do gens through a chain hunt instead of grabbing the box while I'm in chase.

    Keep solving that box!

Be diligent in making certain someone gets the box soon into the match, and during each “blue circle” cycle (buildup around the Survivor hud icons); Preferably and no later than when the “blue” is halfway around the icon.

This is just for utmost precaution and ensuring the chain hunt never activates.

I usually use Balanced Landing in my build, so going high ground to solve the puzzle box gives an advantage, especially in a building where there are obstructions to his LoS. If Pinhead teleports, mid solve there’s still time to break the 3 chains that automatically latch on to you, and then get a speed boost upon landing for distance to a loop.

Best time to solve is if he’s chasing another survivor. He’ll either break chase to teleport to the box holder (which is a plus for your teammate) or he’ll continue chase and you’ll get the solve.

If the chain hunt begins, his add-ons, and an inexperienced (or even a dissonant) team could mean an easy 4K, not to mention whatever perks the killer player brings that just add strife to the chain chaos.

If solving the box while chain hunt is active, the chains target you in sequence of 3 chains, w a slight pause inbetween each set of 3 chains. Always dodge the 3 chains by moving behind an object: Chain appears, go behind a rock or sth, chain hits rock… next chain appears ~ go behind the other side of the rock, or wall, or whatever. Do this 3 times until the “pause in the chains’” appearing, following the 3rd chain. Then begin the solve.

Trying to solve w/o dodging the 3 chains and w/o waiting for the sequence-pause will cause you to get hit by a chain, which resets the solve command until you remove the chain. By that time Pinhead will probz be teleporting to you for an easy hit, and a chase to get his box back.

The usual: Decent loops, mindgames vs the killer, diligence on gens, knowing when/when not to heal, and overall wise gameplay, etc., while working together w a “team-first” mentality are always standard to a successful match. The most important thing is keeping the box solved and out of Pinhead’s hands.
