Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Why are Events getting worse?

Even the BBQ event - which we already had before - is now worse than the original.

In the original event, survivors would get points for every gen completed as long as you brought the offering. Now you HAVE to be the one(s) to complete the gen to get points. And these points also seem less than before. What is the point of this change? It punishes you for looping the killer.

Killer is fine. Every hook seems to be an event hook except for the basement. But even then the hooks are sabo-able. I thought they removed saboing event hooks but I was never a huge fan of that option...

It just seems to me that events are being made worse for no reason.

All events seem very killer sided now and I dont know why they keep doing things like this. Anyone know?

It's not quite that bad, though. The original event had fewer event gens (1 + offerings). I recall that in the original event, quite a few teammates would prefer doing non-event gens so I couldn't get max points anymore and some killers were throwing the game just to camp the event gens to prevent survivors from getting points.

Current event is mainly killer favored because the game is extremely killer favored (at least at my low MMR which I can't change because of solo queue) and the killer usually wrecks the entire group with 12 hooks before two gens pop. If the survivors are good enough then you actually can get more than the killer if you both bring offerings. I've had one game today where I got 92k points and the killer got 72k, and another one 70k for me vs 53k for the killer. Killers got only 6 and 8 hooks though, not the full 12 as they do in most games. If the game was balanced and more often more gens could be done, the points would probably be fair on both sides.

In some ways it's much better than some people made it out to be. Until two days ago, I didn't even burn an offering because people were complaining it would hardly give any bonus points. It varies depending on the game, but generally, it's a decent amount (for a "minor" event). I originally didn't even want to level characters and just saved up my bloodpoints because folks online said the offerings were extremely rare, that's not the case for me either. They're not in every blood web, but I've got more already than I can spend for the rest of the event.

I definitely agree it would be much better if you didn't have to be on a gen when it is completed to get points. This way it favors SWF again. They know which gen is about to be done and they can wait until everyone's there to get on it before they pop it. When I see a gen is about to be done, I'm wasting time running around the map hoping to find the gen before it's completed.

It just feels like they are ridiculously stingy when it comes to event BP and the way to get the limited event BP just makes games way more sweaty so it's overall not a great time.

    but just survivor event BP.

Killer: Play as normal = profit.

Survivor: Only profit if youre touching the gen the second it pops.

The inconsistency bothers me. And the fact that they changed it to make it worse is just insane to me...

I will never understand why so many people remember Scorching Summer BBQ as the best event there ever was

It was the EXACT same thing as Howling Grounds, but 2 event gens and hooks spawned by default. That. Is. It.

it was more hooks/gens when people brought offerings.

Survivors got points for gen completion (regardless of if they finished that gen).

Now BBQ Invites really just benefit killers.

I'd love to see an event where by playing the offering everyone (killer and survivors) share the event BP earned in the match and it'd stack for every offering played. Be amazing to see how different the games are played when the event BP is shared.

Don't play an offering? You don't get any of the event BP others earn but they still get yours. Survivors busting through gens? That's fine, you as killer are also getting the event BP from them. Killer quickly killing everyone? You may have missed out on gen event BP but atleast you'll share in the hook BP. 😂

I mean, i can understand the logic behind the change. Last BBQ event was full of complaint about gen rushing. Since anyone just had to complete a gen to get the points for everyone. Now that changed to a everyone has to do gens in coop. Which isn´t really that different to the previous gen rush version, with the exception of the bloodpoints.

So meh... another event that could have been great but just leaves a bad taste for both sides.
