Twitch Drops Coming This October
For those of you who don't know what Twitch Drops are, they're goodies (typically 'minor' exclusives or currency) that you can obtain for free by watching Twitch Streamers. No Prime is required, just a Twitch account.
As usual, I'll try to deliver you the news regarding new Drops and their availability o7
Looks like the first batch is coming Friday-ish

it's only free if you consider your time wasted watching a stream you're not interested for a chance at a trinket worthless.

what a ray of sunshine...

Great. More potential FOMO. Everybody loves that.
😑

Yeah, since you need a BHVR-Account for this, I am not doing this. I once read that people got loss of progress when linking their account to a BHVR-Account and I dont really want to experience this.

Good thing they're not adding P100 rewards. Would be too bad if people felt that they were missing out.

I believe this has been fixed quite a while ago. I linked my account just fine.

For twitch drops I just put whatever stream on my phone, turn off volume, and then put phone aside while I go do whatever else I want to. You don't have to sit there watching/paying attention to the stream to earn the drop.

This is keeping me from doing it. I'd rather not risk losing all my progress. It's unfortunate since twitch drops are such low effort to get the rewards.
3 -
Probably. But if I have this, I will get almost 9k hours of playtime as compensation in Bloodpoints. And I have plans for the future and they dont include spending Billions of Bloodpoints I got as compensation for my loss of progress :p
(Depending on the Drops I might link it. I hope they are not cosmetics or anything like this...)

it's free tho. the direct risk of abusing FOMO strategies is not there, since there's no pressure to spend real money.
1 -
Yeah exactly. And so far I did not really need a BHVR-Account since I think the only things so far is to get the Jake-Skin when you buy Hooked on You, Cross-Progression (for the few platforms where it is possible) and I think to add friends which are not on your platform. And none of those apply to me.

Free bad is still bad. Let's stop with that "it's free" excuse.
FOMO is about missing out. You can do that without involving real currencies. For example, cosmetics locked behind daily login rewards counts as FOMO. Yet nobody who get them paid, and nobody that didn't get them paid.

I am well aware what FoMO is, I just fail to see how this is such a massive thing. Because, again, the most prominent risk of abusing FoMO, vulnerable people spending money they really cannot afford to spend, is simply not present. Not to mention that you can simply use another device or have a muted tab in the background to get the goods, so it’s not like you have to interact with the game to get them either.
With your reasoning, they can’t do any kind of limited-time promotion thing, ever. I guess that’s valid, but I really don’t think it matters that much. You can’t have a complete collection of all the charms and cosmetics ever released anyway, so… it just seems like a non-issue to me.
Compare that, however, to the massive boost in traffic for streamers. Sure, a substantial amount are going to be lurkers that’ll disappear once they got their goodies, but there’s every chance there are also people that find a new streamer they like through this.

The big reason why people are pointing out fomo is because bhvr likened a prestige 100 reward to the feeling of missing out
Missing the fact that they abuse fomo and a prestige 100 reward isn't fomo as it's not a limited time thing

Yeah i dont understand why they said that either.
Like the whole rift thing was advertised with “for our dedicated players”, but then P100 rewards are a no-go ‘cause pure casuals won’t reach them.

Yeah, I have no interest in linking my account OR creating a Twitch account just for this, so I'll pass...
That said, you really shouldn't use the word "exclusive" around here, knowing this FOMO-obsessed community. I guess there might be unique charms, but there's not going to be any exclusive cosmetics from this.

Unfortunately, these Twitch Drops can't be earned on Nintendo Switch - we do have more things coming this month however.

So I just have to make an account and link it to twitch to get the code? Or are codes linked to the account and I still need to link the game?
I'm not crazy about making and linking 3 years into the game. Super scared about progression loss and somehow having to start all over.

You need to connect your game account to the BHVR account and link your Twitch account also.
https://account.bhvr.com/twitch-drops/dbd/ there's an FAQ on this page (scroll down) which should answer all your questions.

bro doesn't understand how to minimize a tab

This aged well...
Looks like a weapon for Hag and a shirt for Elodie will be exclusive to the drops. :(

And will those things be available on Switch? Or will it be just another "so sorry, you get nothing"? If you're going to make a trend of Twitch drops but not offer any way for Switch players to participate then that's further proof that Switch players do not matter to BHVR at all. Can't even get the version to run above 20 FPS.

Switch players being treated like 2nd class citizens once again. Who would've thought that FREE skins would be locked against a certain platform.
1 -
Is that all they're doing? Glad to hear I won't be missing much.

It's sad that Switch is left out, especially when they said no more exclusives it was about making cosmetics available to all platforms. They said no more leaving platforms out like before when steam/pc got cosmetics that console couldn't, but here we are with Switch being left out.
Instead of needing to link platform account to BHVR account they should've only required linking the Twitch account and when you claim the drop have a code pop up on your bhvr account to enter in the in game store. With a code it would allow all platforms to participate in the drops. When Back 4 Blood had a beta WB Games opened access to it with twitch drops - you'd watch for x amount of time, when you claimed the drop you would have a code on your WB games account (along with code for couple friends) and you could enter it on whatever platform Back 4 Blood would be available on. I hope for future Twitch drops BHVR switches to having codes available on players BHVR account instead of requiring the linking to platforms.

I could get Twitch drops for Warframe just fine because the accounts were set up to not care about what platform it was on. Major content updates may have been delayed for consoles but at least we got the same stuff. Game also ran well and looked alright despite being an incredibly fast-paced action game. Wish DbD put in half the effort Warframe did for its Switch version.
