Firecrackers: Killer Main Perspective

NMCKE
NMCKE Member Posts: 8,243

Introduction

Since I been playing a ton of killer, I wanna shine my opinion on them so far and how much I like this item! Recently, I seen this item get a ton of hate saying it's a crutch item but I'll have to disagree to that statement. In fact, I would go as far as saying that I actually want them to be obtainable from the Bloodweb at all times because they are that balanced!

Firecrackers

I really think Firecrackers are a great addition to the game and they should be a baseline item that you can always obtain through the Bloodweb! As a killer main, I'm getting sick and tired of flashlights but Firecrackers are a different story, they add a new type of gameplay! Usually when you pick up a survivor, you just take them to a hook but if a survivor has a firecracker, you'll have to pay attention! This adds a bit of spice to the carrying part of the killer gameplay when otherwise it's really boring.

Firecrackers Need Some Add-ons

Developers, if you are reading this, make this item just like the other survivor items and make some add-ons for the Firecracker! Go crazy, your imagination is the limit devs! :)

What's your PoV on Firecrackers? Do you agree with me? Discuss!

Add friendly fire and self blinding to them.

The community wanted those added after the first event they were implemented in. Sadly the devs still havent figured out how to balance them correctly with addons or different rarities. If theyre even working on those at all.

No they're awful. It takes no skill to blind with these.

If a survivor runs in front of you while you're carrying then yeah you can see them coming but otherwise its quite easy to catch the killer off guard with these when compared to a flashlight. I've been blinded more times this event than I have all year with flashlights. Likewise I've blinded more killers this event than I have all year.

They're awful and they need to go.

Personally as a wraith main. if I see one dropped I stop and watch the fireworks. then hook the survivor and ring my bell in junglebells fashion.(as close to that as I can) sure I lose the game. but me and the survivor get to celebrate the holidays. I got to see fireworks. They get camped and hear me try to ring jingle bells it’s a win/win

    Lol

Do you get stunned as Wraith by them while cloaked? That seems BS and OP to me. All they have to do is drop one near you while cloaked and you can't avoid them.

You can look up when you see the throwing animation. It doesn't blind until after you see them throw it down.

That may be true but I’ve yet to have that happen... I did have someone try to use it near a hook I was planning on using. So I dropped him and went for her and she got jingle bells....

Yes if you see the throwing animation. Sometimes you don't either because a survivor throws it at your side which still blinds you or you hit them and tjey burst off and your weapon wipe combined kind of covers it.

Lightburn isn't about looking away. The survivor just needs to aim a flashlight at Wraiths body, not his eyes. That's why its hard to dodge firecrackers as him.

As killer I kinda enjoy them so I would agree with them staying.

But they will probably never be implemented as real permanent item since originial firecrackers were supposed to be in game long time ago. Devs said they'll be making them into full items eventually but since that was almost 2 years ago It will probably never happen and they'll stay event item forever.

"It takes no skill to blind with these."

The survivor will need to do the unexpected to get a blind off of you, it's not just a press of a button. Additionally, you can avoid the blind just by simply looking up, there's counter play for both sides. Your statement is such an exaggeration on your part because that's not how things actually play out.

Make Lightborn counter it, make them purple/pink rarity, and make them more visible in a survivor's hands. They don't need add-ons TBH.

Survivors needed another, easier, way to blind and stun killers. Flashlights take too much aim and skill.

Fireworks at Christmas time was the most obvious solution, and the first thing this game needed.I

Because I know for a fact that fireworks are the first thing people think of around the holidays! Why not have them in this horror game!

Well as you acknowledged they do have drawbacks and like flashlights they can be baited into being wasted along with the old toss to soon toss to late aka pallet stuns. I find half the time they backfire or get wasted right now in games.

Translation: Anything that's fun for survivors that might also backfire is obviously a survivor buff and not something a iller can have fun with or take advantage of.

I mean it's not like survivors can't miss, they can't blind themselves, they can't blind their teammates, they can't throw it too early or too late. It's also not like it's a one time use item unlike flashlights or that a killer can't just use Franklin's Demise.

But of course since all those things possibly can't go wrong for the survivors it's obviously the devs wanting to make thing easier for survivors. It's not as if there isn't any good or smart killers out there who can avoid the blind or bait it into being used.

I haven't seen any of those things happen. I have only been able to dodge the blind 2-3 times.

Also....they make no sense for this time of year.

No offense but even if firecrackers were to be in the game it could be really bad on both sides. I feel like a lot other killer mains don’t persoanlly like fire crackers. They don’t require skill but just timing (dropping too late or early).

Plus they can also blind survivors. Another strange thing is that I was about to get hooked until I got randomly blinded as a survivor while the killer didn’t even drop me.

Firecrackers are really annoying that’s all I’m gonna say but I do respect your opinion on them.

they wouldn't be so bad, if every other box didn't give them, so it's possible to use 5 in a single game.

Add them to the base game! Yes! I love how they can just deafen you if you dodge the flash. I'd love a noisemaker/any item that specifically deafens the killer. It'd make sure players with headphones don't have that big an an advantage and it'd be fun to try and counter. Like maybe you could turn to the side so only one ear is deafened?

Yeah, true but Firecrackers also take skill to bait the killer. I usually take a hit at a hook then drop my Firecracker as the killer M1's me since they are usually so focused on the hook. I fell victim to this trap, it's not the prettiest when it hits you but I adapted.

THIS. This is my main issue with them. I don't mind them as much as I did at first because now I'm aware of them and looking for the drop animation, but the fact that the same survivor can drop like 3 in one game is crazy and annoying.

Wow. It all makes sense now.

I was on the hook being camped by a huntress, and 2 survivors ran in for the save. One unhooked me and the other did a firework drive by. However it blinded me long enough to get slapped right back on the hook.

    ...i thought my game glitched.

You cant always see the drop thats the issue. Its too easy to pull off blinds with them.

Also they shouldnt be able to lightburn the wraith, and Lightborn level 3 should definitely counter them.
