Deadly BrushStrokes Challenge is broken?

Down 3 survivors whose injuries are from a dire crow hit as the artist. Complete this challenge in a single trial.

I did that on multiple matches, but I did not complete the challenge regardless of downing each survivor with the dire crow hit and even using a combination of hitting with dire crow and then M1 the survivor.

Even for one game, the survivors were kind enough to assist me to complete this challenge in the end game and let me strike free hits which gave me time to experiment with this challenge and its conditions, and despite all the combinations I tried, this challenge appears broken.

Any help on how it should be done?
