Chapter 30 - is it SAW X?

Please: Do NOT spoiler the movie, he arrives in Germany at November 30th, so I dont know what will happen. The reason for this delay is the absence of the Voice Actor for John Cramer, so they decided to delay the movie to give us the original german voice for him.
A new post on twitter for DBD has risen from the fog:
All I need is HELLO ZEPP and then, there is only one thing for me to do:
"Hey BHVR, heres my money!"

I really hope not, out of all the licenses to get a part 2 this would be my bottom pick
8 -
I highly doubt it. I think this is just promotion for Saw X.
I also think John Kramer would never be a killer in DBD anyways because his character just doesn't fit.
The only saw content i see coming is a Mark Hoffman legendary outfit for The Pig.

Iād be really happy if it was! Iāve been hoping theyād revisit Saw.

Hope not. That'd be lame
1 -
I really hope not, who would even be a good choice as the killer? Kramer would make 0 sense since he doesn't outright kill people, and Hoffman.... Is just Amanda 2.0
7 -
Doubt it. I think the devs are just taking advantage of the Saw X hype to get some advertising in, which is smart.
2 -
I mean, I'd be happy for the people that really wanted a second Saw chapter, but I'd be incredibly disappointed.

Billy the puppet

Yeah most of the disiples in Saw who were popular are literally Hoffman and Amanda and in DBD they would be practically the same. Reverse bear traps are the only traps that could really work in dbd off the top of my head. I would be happy to see legendary skins like they do for silent hill.

Saw X was fairly good, but I don't think anything else from Saw would work as a new killer. At most you could get Kramer as a Pig Legendary, but there's not enough there for a new killer and power.

His character absolutely fits. His motives for his victims are always paper thin, and most of the time the killers aren't technically killing the survivors. I'm going to put you on this hook and you just need to have the will to survive and pull yourself off it is exactly the type of Kramer nonsense from the movies. He basically never puts people in winnable games.

But for real, I never understood why Hello Zepp wasn't the Pigs terror radius or at least patched in later. This is THE missed opportunity in DBD. It would make play Pig absolute GOAT!

You should watch Jigsaw.

A 2nd SAW chapter to me would still be more preferable than a 3rd RE chapter.

I have no idea!
With them saying it's a big lisence and only a killer with no map, you can try process of elimination.
A lot of folks say predator, maybe it's that, because Arnold would be expensive (I don't know honestly) but it would be sad to miss out on a cool jungle map. Then again we already have a saw map so...
I feel a second saw chapter would be a bit boring though. When I think of a big lisence I think of Jason, Predator or something like that.
I don't want it to be anything though where not having a survivor would be disappointing.

I doubt it has anything to do with Arnold. There are a whole bunch of movies with a whole bunch of potential survivors. Naru would be a great addition. They could also cut Danny Glover another cheque, which would be hilarious, or do the Ripley route and not worry about paying likeness rights.
If they were going to do Arnold, they should just put actual Arnold in the game.

Should definitely not watch Jigsaw... please never promote that film and forget it exists...
I was right in the middle of my new player DBD hype, full Pig fan boy grin on my face. Watched the first 6 Saw films, enjoyed them all, skipped Saw 3D cause that also doesn't exist, and decided to check this film out.
I have never been in the middle of a franchise high during a film as hard as I was watching Jigsaw... honestly you could have almost done anything and I'd have lapped it up... but man...
Every scene that went by kept knocking a chip off my enthusiasm; I was still fanboying hard, watching and enjoying but it kept taking knocks... stupid ######### that made no sense with the core concept of Saw blatantly absent. I kept shrugging it off and letting myself go with the film, but the repeated logical and narrative screw ups were slowly eating away at my forgiveness...
Then we got to the silo scene... and the rake... and to quote Popeye "that's all I can stands, and I can't stands no more...". My rose-tinted fanboy glasses didn't just crack, they snapped clean in two, and I went from happy wide-eyed fan, to full angry nerd rant mode in a single instant. I couldn't even finish the film I was that angry... my mate did watch it to completion to see if I was overreacting or missing something, and in so doing he became just as irate as me.
This anecdote is obviously not evidence the film is bad... but honestly outside of my personal opinion, there is so much objectively wrong/contradictory to the point of Saw in it, it's a miracle someone managed to screw it up so badly....
I doubt anyone wants a 10 page essay explaining why... But please... never recommend that film again... it brings nothing but pain to Saw fans... š„
EDIT: I've heard Saw X is actually pretty damned good. Same writers as Jigsaw, but they seem to have done their research this time, so I'm hopeful they've finally figured out the point of Saw and done the job right...
Would be happy for some Saw skins and alike... don't think there's enough for a new killer though...

I have. I don't know about anyone else but personally I didn't like the disiple in that. Same with the copycat in Spiral The Book of Saw. I'm a huge Saw fan and have seen most of the movies multiple times except Saw X which I still need to see.
Exactly my thoughts and I have heard the same things about it. Generally the John Kramer moments and movies are always the best since he is such a good and interesting character.
1 -
I'm waiting too...
I don't get why Germany has to wait that long...
I would be hyped for Hoffman. John would not make much sense due to him "despising killing".
The nerf gas house from saw 2 would be super exciting though.

I disliked Spiral more...
But jigsaw also wasn't good...
1 -
I haven't watched Spiral cause I'm afraid of having a nerd aneurism... thank you for confirming my fears are well-founded š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
0 -
Yeahhh....
It's really not good.
You will be happier ignoring it's existence.
You will also miss out on nothing concerning John's storyline. Trust me.
1 -
I do not think that's true. Sure maybe he's deluded but he's not a liar.
He does believe his games to be winnable but some of them get sabotaged by Amanda and the rest do not get overseen by him.
Amanda survived the Reverse Bear Trap, Gordon survived the game he was in, Adam could have survived but amanda intentionally misplaced the key for his chain in the bathtub.
He lacks the physicality to be a DBD killer anyways due to his cancer.
So if he was in the game the Entity would have to change his entire philosophy and give him the strength to just ignore his cancer.
So i do not think he fits.

Agreed Spiral in my opinion was the worst Saw movie. The villain was so unlikable in my opinion. But at least it got us Pig cosmetics.

Kramers power: turn a jungle gym into a deathtrap room. Players have to solve semi random under a timer or end up on the hook.

I've been watching Saw since the very first film and seen them all save for Spiral and X. I'm a fan and I think Jigsaw is fine.
It's not a great film, but it's fine. Though I also don't ever expect that the disciples will ever be as good as John was because they do not have the same reasoning for doing what they are doing that John had. I go into each film with the explicit understanding that it needs to not be measured against the first 4 films or else it is going to be impossible to actually find anything to enjoy. I think Jigsaw has plenty of things to enjoy on it's own which is why I suggest it.
If you don't like it, you don't like it. But don't speak as if you speak for all fans of Saw.
1 -
You mean Saw 3D didn't faze you at all? You had faith in the franchise before Jigsaw?
Jigsaw was actually a huge step up from Saw 3D, and basically anything with Hoffman in it.
Saw X is good.
0 -
Not sure how serious this suggestion is.
But I'd have to add, what weapon/outfit with he get to set him apart from Amanda?
0 -
I honestly donāt feel like they would be hyping up a ācapital Lā license just for it to be SAW Part 2.
If it is that would be pretty disappointing.
0 -
What about everyone else from the first movie? How was the guy with Amanda's key supposed to win? How was the guy who had to crawl through razor wire with an impossible time limit supposed to win? How was the naked candle guy supposed to win when the wall was just covered in every possible number? They asked for no spoilers, but the games in X aren't really winnable either.
The cancer thing also isn't an issue. Amanda also lacks the physicality to be a DBD killer because she's dead. Tapp is also dead so shouldn't be able to participate. The Entity just needs to pick John from the period of his life when he was doing the pig stuff.
1 -
Hehehee, I'm just having a over the top nerd rant for fun man, apologies if I came across as though I was running you down, was not my intention... if you like it, that's fine. š
My objective analysis of Jigsaw is there are several major issues that are completely illogical within the films own plot, and a huge deviation from the Saw franchises core driving narrative. This means that even with a very biased initially positive stance towards the film, I still ended up hating it.
I'm sure as mutual fans of the series we could have a great discussion about it, however I'm pretty darned confident I could punch a serious hole in your love of the film... and I don't want to taint something you like just for the sake of it. That's not an insult to your opinion, just the problems I've identified are inexcusable to my mind once you notice them... to the point that the few positives the film had are dwarfed into insignificance by the core failings of the plot.
I was warned to never watch Saw 3D, or Spiral, sadly I didn't get that same warning for Jigsaw š

Spiral isn't bad, it's just a different genre. More of a spin off
0 -
Thats the best part about the movie by far.
0 -
It would've been a decent movie if they had just used Tobin Bell for the voice. No reason not to unless he didn't want to do it.
0 -
I've seen alot of people say they really enjoyed Spiral but I hated it. It honestly didn't even feel like a Saw movie. With Saw movies, things are never as they appear and even going in knowing that I still walk away surprised. It's what I enjoy about them. With Spiral, it was just straight forward and predictable. I left feeling like, was that it?
0 -
And the fact that it's a copycat killer. How would he have recorded John Kramer?
0 -
They already set him up as a guy who knows how a computer works. That's all it takes in horror movies. Creating an AI replica voice should be trivial in universe. The Scream movies have used Roger Jackson in every movie even though there have been 30 different killers. And as far as I know, Tobin Bell has been the voice in all the other movies even though he's dead for a lot of them.
0 -
If they take anything from the new movie it wouldn't make much sense
But they could have the Venus Fly-Trap from SAW 2
Or could have extra Hook spawns that look like Other Traps from any movie
But coding them to work would be the hard part
0 -
The difference is that Ghostface was using a voice changer, while Jigsaw is John Kramer entirely.
A subplot to use AI to replicate John Kramer's voice, when everyone knows it's a copycat killer, everyone knows John Kramer is dead and the killer doesn't even try to pass themselves off as Jigsaw?
0 -
Just saying, that's a super cool reason for a delay!
Enjoy the film!

Saw 3d was a good way to tie up loose ends and come full circle. I recommend watching it. There's a lot of what seems like plot holes that 3d fills up nicely. Explains how Jigsaw was able to accomplish certain elements that you wouldn't think makes much sense and would just hand wave it as silly movie logic.

As much as I love SAW and Amanda, I just couldn't see this happening unless she was getting a major rework and new map/map rework. There's so many more better options to choose from.
0 -
It doesn't need to be a subplot. They just need to mention he did it on a computer and it works. Besides, am I wrong, or wasn't Tobin Bell the voice in all the movies even when Hoffman was the killer? They already had the subplot when they decoded the voice to reveal it was Hoffman. Tobin Bell's voice is the best part of at least 6 of the movies.
