Can someone explain what happened here?
I'm fairly new to killer, always been main surv. I was playing trapper, I had a trap right on a vault, a survivor vaulted and nothing happened, like if the trap wasn't even there

If you put the trap too close to the vault, they can just vault past it.

Are you kidding me? Like trapper's power is not weak enough, you also have to be super precise or it won't work? That's lame

It's an easy mistake to make. We've all done it.
But I think if they had slow vaulted it might have trapped them.

Just wait for wrong trap placement on pallet and watch them passing your trap while you are stepping on it :d
Yeah, Trapper is bad. I mean so bad. Weakest killer in game. You should play Wraith if you are new, his power is decent and fun.

That's a very old issue you encountered here. Because the survivor hitbox is elevated above the ground during the animation, they can perform a fast vault and jump right over that trap. This has happened to all of us at least once, so you're definitely not alone.
You can set the trap at a slight distance from the vault and then it should be able to catch them. Even if they are only slow / medium vaulting. It's sadly one more thing you need to watch out for on a killer that is already quite weak.

Yeah, this was a pretty clear example of placing the trap too close to the vault (which we've all done), but I've seen some instances were it's borderline unbelievable that the surv didn't trigger a trap.
As weak as Trapper is, I don't think it would be out of bounds to expand the "trigger area" around a trap a bit to cut down on the some of the more egregious instances.

Yes I have learned this the hard way. Sometimes it still happens to me. Just like others have said it’s best to put the trap a little bit away from the windows.

I feel the exact same way. I think Wraith is a much better Killer for newer players to start with.

I believe since they fast vaulted and the trap isn't far enough from the vault, they didn't get trapped. With a Medium or slow vault they might have been trapped? Sometimes it be like that
