how do i counter dredge?

im a decent looper but against dredge i dont know what to do, im currently studying my survivor games and in that post you can see i always lose against dredges.

i find them so weird to loop because if you go one way they drop their black shadow thingy and teleport to it usually getting a hit, if you run the other way you end up running into them, either way you get hit and im just at such a loss on how to counter him which is weird because i have him prestiged and have put a good few hours into him.

any tips will ne apprieciated thanks

Personally, I take those situations like you describe and cut back when I think they would teleport to the darkness. Its not guaranteed, but when you call it right, its a free win at that duel.

Alternatively, this situation shines with perks like Dead hard and current MFT. Ultimately, it takes some time and practice, but some Dredgies are crafty, and just won't teleport. They hard commit, Be wary.

    Watch what Dredge is doing.

Teleporting? Run the opposite direction from closes lockers (He is trying to cut you off / catch up to you).

Dropping his shadow on loop and holding it? Run away.

When Dredge puts the remnant (shadow) down in a loop:

-> Hold W and go to the next loop

If you can't leave the loop or are in a dead zone

-> Bait the remnant: go towards it to force a teleport before turning back

If Dredge puts the remnant down to teleport mid-chase:

-> it's trying to cut you off, run somewhere you don't see lockers

-> If Dredge teleports go back the opposite direction

    During Nightfall:

-> Don't forget you're glowing, I get a bunch of hits / downs because survivors are poorly trying to hide

-> If you want to stealth make sure you're away from lockers because Dredge gets killer instinct, and make sure to hide behind obstacles that cover you 100% (a wall at the edge of the map for example)

    General tips:

    -> Don't hide in lockers

-> Don't try to lock a locker when Dredge is teleporting, it can grab you.

-> When two or more lockers are next to eachother, only lock one of them. Dredge teleports to the "locker group" in this case and will always go in the locker with a lock on it.

-> Dredge has a brown add-on that lets it know where locked lockers are, keep that in mind if it can easily find where you are if you lock lockers as you go.

thats actually really helpful thank you so much, i will keep all this in mind in my matches against the dredge, how common is that brown addon? should i just assume all dredges run it?

I honestly have no idea how common the add-on is. Dredge has much better add-ons than this one so I don't think it's popular.

I personally use this one a lot because I hoard non-brown add-ons lol, but other than that Dredge also has other tracking add-ons (see survivor aura when they lock a locker, see survivors when using the last teleport token).

The more popular add-ons are the ones related to nightfall i believe, but if the killer often finds you quickly after you locked a locker it's very likely they're using a tracking add-on so you should be careful when and if you lock a locker.
