why doesn't alt loadout effect cosmetics?

I usually use Feng for runner (even though I'm terrible at runner), but I got a challenge to use her more stealthy. I made a new alt, but when I changed her cosmetics there to be darker, it changed them for the first one, too.

Cosmetics should be specific to alts, just like perks and powers and offerings are. That way I could tell at a glance which alt I have set.
