Roadmap Doesn’t Mention Maps

I know the art and level design team are busy with whatever the future chapters are at the moment, but the lack of any information on maps is concerning. Map design has been at its third worst at the moment, topped by the initial release of Garden of Joy/Borgo and when the game released back in 2016.

Condensing maps, while helpful in the cases of Mother’s Dwelling and Borgo, didn’t resolve a vast majority of issues. You can make it small, sure, but pallet density, extremely safe loops, and god windows stay the same. As well as the other side of the spectrum, such as horribly unsafe loops in Nostromo and Hawkins. That’s a balance to be struck and to be as honest as possible to the devs, that hasn’t been hit since the Eyrie rework.

Gideon is pallet hell and has few windows, rendering window perks moot. Hawkins is somehow the entire universe’s entropy condensed in one place, which seems to have zero play testing with many recent killer powers. Nostromo has the weakest pallet loops to date, and a weaker alternative shack. Swamp still hasn’t been put on the Realm Beyond docket even though Grim Pantry is easily the most unfun map to date. Midwich kill rate might as well be 100%. Rotten Fields is corn hell. Badham has the strongest buildings in the game with no dead zones. Lampkin Lane has the strongest building with 99% dead zones. I could go on, really.

We really need a priority tree on this. Maps are easily the runner up worst state of the current game, outside of maybe Freddy.
