Killers any tips?

Hi! So I basically play both killer and survivor but sometimes I get bored of playing survivor so I’d like to become a more better killer.

I normally play Spirit. Sometimes Trapper or Leatherface for fun. I’m not really interested in pipping up so 2 kills are enough for me (makes it feel even idk).

I don’t have many perks for killers but ones I use are ruin, bbq, nurse’s calling, sloppy butcher, haunted grounds, and sometimes iron grasp but not as much anymore.

This is how I normally play killer: I walk around looking if there are any gens being done and I wear headphones so I can hear them or any survivors (for some reason survivors sound really low? like I can barely hear them idk)

When I find survivors of course the chase happens, I chase for awhile and if I can’t catch them I usually stop and go search for another survivor.

I watch youtubers who play killer and I hardly see them break gens but mainly just chase people. I’m not sure if I’m too comfortable with that idea since I usually encounter so many SWFs in my rank now (rank 10 killer) and with the broken match making I’ve dealt with red ranks.

I normally get like 2-3 kills a game. 4 is a sometimes and I rarely get unlucky so I’m not that bad as playing killer.

I’m alright with mind games but as a survivor main myself I usually know how survivors would play or try to juke.

So questions:
1. Should I really focus on breaking gens because I always break them when they’ve been touched no matter what
2. Do I need to apply more pressure onto the survivors I encounter? I don’t wanna chase one survivor the entire game
3. Should I keep nurse’s calling as a base kit for my perks because it’s helped me a lot honestly

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

It really depends on the group you’re facing. Overcharge is great especially at lower ranks. Kind of slows down the progress.
I think you are doing the right thing to let go the ones you can’t catch. They can mess up your game really fast. Look for someone easy to down. There must be at least one of them who is lower ranked. It is quite common red ranks team up with newbies to end up low ranked killers.
If you have other perks, try different combinations. You will find new builts for yourself.
  • pick one survivor with a dumb/cringey name in the pregame, tunnel till dead. Thats what I do

The perk "Whispers" will help you know when to look around and when to go somewhere else. Try to determine which one is the easiest survivor to catch and sacrifice it first, that will make the rest of the match a little easier.
But the most important thing: Have fun! Give in to the bloodlust (the feeling, not the game mecanic)  :)

You seem to be doing alright from what you say. 2k is a win tbh. The game should (if perfectly balanced) have 2k /2 escape per match, unless you're at a lower rank than you should.

Breaking gens to me is used more for tracking than anything unless I'm running overcharge or pop goes the weasel. If the area looks abandoned but a gen is somewhat progressed, kick it. If it's still regressing next time you're around there likely isn't anyone nearby. If it's no longer regressing/someones touched it there's probably a Claudette hidden in some nearby grass

As far as chasing one survivor vs breaking chase, you seem to be doing alright. Good killers know when it's worth committing to a chase or when it's just wasting time that could be better used applying pressure on the others. A big mistake killers make is focusing on 1 survivor for way too long while the other 3 are free to work gens unhindered. It can cost them the game too easily. So I'd say keep doing what you're doing. It's the smart move tbh.

Last of all, Nurses is great. No reason to take it out, especially if it's been useful for you so far ^_^

    Step 1. Level up hag
Step 2. Equip 3 or 4 totem perks
    Step 3. Equip mint rag
    Step 4. Profit

For real tho, the biggest tip I would suggest is dont listen to salty comments or what "toxic survivor mains" say, if you need to tunnel to get the win, then tunnel. Myself about 50/50 maybe leaning 60/40 to survivor, I dont like tunneling or camping, but I do understand it can be the differance between getting 1 kill, and getting none, or even I've had times where tunnelling and camping got me a 4k, from bad altruistic SWF.
So in short, play to the situation, not to the "social standard" of the game.

Biggest tip I can give, work on and play your own style. Despite what some may say, there is not true right way to play killer. Learn when to tunnel and when to break chase which comes with experience. Most important though, have fun and remember it is just a game.

As somebody who plays both survivor and killer myself, I think that being a survivor main puts you at an advantage to many players who only play killer as you have a better understanding of what your opponents are doing throughout the match.

To answer your question, I find breaking generators very helpful, especially when it comes to finding survivors. If you break a generator and come back to see that it is no longer regressing, you know that a survivor is nearby. If you played the match without breaking any generators, you would have no idea whether a survivor was just on a specific generator or if they haven't been at that spot for quite some time.

You are right about leaving chases. Applying map pressure comes down to getting hooks and injuring survivors, and you want to do this as quickly as possible. You should not be afraid to abandon a chase if a survivor is very good at looping and wasting your time. Too many killer players chase one survivor for far too long, and this often costs them the match. You can even gain some momentum by leaving a chase as the other survivors may unknowingly run to an area where you broke the pallets during your initial encounter.

You have some great perks in your loadout. BBQ and Ruin are two perks that can provide benefit to pretty much every killer. In regards to Nurses Calling, it is terrific on killers like the Spirit who can appear out of nowhere and have a lower terror radius, but I find it very situational on other killers since, in my experience, higher rank survivors will usually stop healing when the killer is nearby.

Finally, to address the comment you made about survivors sounding quiet, the sound is currently a little messed up after the recent patch, but a fix for it should be coming soon. That is likely why you are experiencing some problems.

If you have problems with teams 9r you expect them play for the end game mix noed remember me and warden all togeather for the endgame build to cause survivors issues with slow gates (tunnels obsession to death or use ivory on them once you get the stacks) and never hook until the doors are open so you can trap them and try to activate warden with a kill hook so they can't negate it

Nah dude use mint rag and the shackles and trap end gates early on
