Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

2nd time this week I've seen at least 4 generators packed into one corner of the map.

First time I saw this, in the game, EVER, was earlier this week. I was on the ormond ski map, and there was literally 4 generators packed onto one side of the map. one outside killer shack, one literally a couple feet away from that in front of the main building, one next to that, and ANOTHER ONE on that same side, in the corner.

You could literally see all 4 generators at once standing on that map.

And we got to 1 gen left, too. Cause we would've won if the generators weren't INSANELY killer biased in that match. disgusting bs'ingly so.

Killer even had doctor's generator perk, and we were at 3 survivors left at 1 gen. so we were screwed no matter what. it was literally impossible.

I've NEVER seen such broken placements of the gens, with literally 1600 hours on dbd. That was the first time. And it kept coming up in my head later on, still being like #########.

And even the killer agreed in endgame chat once we all inevitably died to that BS.

I hoped maybe that would be the first and only time I ever saw such bs with the gens. NOPE!

Literally a match in the same week, just tonight, I had a match on vitrrorio's map, it was against chucky, and I cannot exaggerate enough how disgusting these gens placements were.

I literally saw 5. FIVE. FIVEEEE generators smushed together on one side of the map, on vittorios map. I spawned at killer shack, generator was outside it. then you walk 12 feet to the left of it? generator there. walk back to it, walk 12 feet to the right of it? generator there.

Generator next to the one on the left of outside of killer shack generator. and then a generator in the "middle" of the map, but closer to killer shack. so it was right next to killer shack generator.

I got a couple of days ago an RNG in Aazarovs Resting Place with 5 gens only on one side. Traumatazing to say the least.

yeee, these things can happen on some maps. - Though usually you don't get the super ridiculous ones very often. - On some of the "hourglass maps" you can have more or less a six-gen where the gen(s) that spawn in "middle" pick the slots that are kinda really not in the middle anymore (Suffo, e.g. ; six out of these seven: in front of main, behind main, right of main, the two next to it, the one between main and mid and the one in the first "mid" tile. --- Once had that as Nemo and didn''t even notice until well into the match; was wondering why the darn survs never left the area. Well, they kinda couldn't, it turned out.)

While their 3genning solution should address some of the issues that come with it (making it insanely easy to three gen) it doesn't really solve the issue where the killer actually really has no interest whatsoever in three genning - but if they don't actively take a tour of the map for no good reason at all it kinda amounts to the same. The gen placement itself is the issue. (Same also goes for hookplacements, btw, I've seen several matches wehere hooks were very oddly spawned; twice as many on one side of the map as the other. Lead to the odd situation where even though the team sabod three hooks the killer still made it to a fourth (despite breakout) --- and then a teamie could crawl all the way down one side of the map and out the exit gate cause the killer had used the one hook available there to sacrifice me)

I’ve had countless matches where there’s like 3-4 hooks next to eachother. Makes sabotaeur loadout useless. A hook literally 8 feet away from one hook. Then another 24-36 feet or so.

There's two theories I've been hearing these days as to why gen spawns have been particularily disgusting these last couple weeks.

1: Since the snowskulls take up a potential gen/totem spawn point, the game struggles and puts snowskulls before everything else which creates weird gen spawns.

2: The coming "3-gen solution" is already partly implemented in that utter mess of a game code. Said solution, due to making gen placement irrelevant due to how Survivors won't have to think about which gens to do anymore, makes the gen spawns more random. After all, if 3-gens are impossible what's the point of taking the time to code proper gen placement? According to the AMA the "solution" will revolve around limiting or outright removing a Killer's ability to kick gens.

So I’m not the only one to notice that literally these recent weeks this has been happening.

whats weird is this happened to me before the snowskull piles and snowmen. The two times I saw it. And in the same night.

also yes, something really annoying, is most survivor players don’t think about what gens to do. Most annoying thing ever while clearly being the best on your team.

watching them do corner generators, both gens next to eachother in a corner (🙁) etc.

Ive had matches where I just cannot allow these people to do a corner generator 5 seconds into the match, or an elevated generator against artist, etc etc, and I fast action spam near them to get the killer to chase them.

literally helping make that survivor actually useful by getting killer on them 😂

but then of course those noobs think I’m trolling, which is understandable cause they don’t understand why I did it.

i only do this AFTER they don’t listen to me emoting at them to follow me to a better gen.

this is why this game needs voice chat. survivors should be able to chat with eachother, but it can only be heard while nearby eachother. the killer can also hear them, but can’t chat back.

this solution would actually lessen the power of SWF’s. Because they have mics on, always able to hear eachother, tell eachother all the info and details at any second, etc. unfair advantage.

but if BHVR added the type of voice chat I described, that issue would be far lessened. Assuming that most multi queues/SWF’s would use the in game proximity chat instead once the feature was added.

Can't help but feel this being worse because maps are becoming smaller and smaller :/

    It's mainly map design.

Problem is, maps being too big make killers with no mobility useless, and small maps make them way too powerful. At the same time, they need to fit all the generators into whatever sized map they need.

I also think there's a current bug with map generation in general. Aside gens spawning so close together, I've seen really weird tiles too. Windows an inch apart from each other connecting to different tiles, two tiles next to each other with no pallets, etc.

  • Let's use Deja Vu. Once you realize there's a nearby generator, you can prioritize repairing it. If there are four Survivors at the start of the match, it should always be possible to break that pattern. In fact, I always do this in solo queue. I don't understand why you would repair generators other than that specific one and intentionally bring it down to three generators….

deja vu is actually a very good perk. I used to think it was like seeing the 3 closest gens, and then if one was completed, you'd see the other 2 gen's auras, and so on. I didn't know the 3 auras changed, when you finish those gens.

Even when I run that though, while in solo queue, I ALWAYS get tunneled by killer all game, so the majority of times I even do run gen perks I can't even use them. And then, of course, my team ends up doing corner gens first, gens next to eachother, same side of the map, etc.
