What’s Stopping BHVR From Getting the Original Nightmare on Elm Street License?
I mean, anything other than the reboot.
Yes, they got the license a whole eon ago, back when DBD didn’t have as many notable licenses. Yet, they still stuck with the reboot version. Even after Freddy’s rework. Sure, I sorta get it, with Quentin, but I don’t think Freddy should solely abide by the reboot. It’s a perfect opportunity to rework the lad into an actual character instead of being weaker than trapper.
Plus, aesthetically he still looks awful. Face like a shriveled tomato, only a blind mother could love. Also a laugh like he’s afraid to wake up his parents at 2:00 AM. And voice seems to not be an issue with BHVR. They were completely fine with mocking Pinhead’s voice in the PTB so you don’t really need Englund if he doesn’t want to do it.
cmon, throw the guy a bone, make his hands sharp again

Freddy's license is weird, difficult to get. Iirc, it is split between a studio and whoever received the original rights from Wes Craven, so that is why many games don't even have Freddy. Hell, it is a miracle DBD has him.
But honestly? That is the one thing I'll never complain about. I prefer the remake version, so I'm good.

kind like scream and ghostface why we didn't get sid or any survivor.
to this day i feel the ghostface be nothing with out the scream movies.

I have seen and heard the wildest opinions on this forum. From the most confusing misunderstandings of basic game mechanics, troll bait designed specifically to start Us vs Them flame wars, and even plain contrarianism just to never have to admit they may be wrong.
And yet I have never been as taken aback as by seeing someone say they prefer the remake Freddy over the original.

Well, it is the truth. I'd go as far as to say the ANOES remake is my favorite horror movie.
I've watched the entire Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, but I don't like the "silly" approach they took with Freddy after the first movie. The remake fixes that: it makes him darker, scarier, brutal.
I love it.

You know what, I get where you are coming from when you explain it like that and I respect it. I hope this was clear that I meant no ill will with my confusion by the way; I've just never seen anyone say anything really positive about the remake let alone prefer it over the original.

Its all good :)
The remake didn't have a positive reception, so I understand where the shock is coming from.

What, you didn't like Super Freddy?
I'm still waiting for Freddy to get the Nintendo Power Glove as a weapon.

No, not really.
I definitely prefer the remake.

I respect that, although I would still like the Power Glove as a weapon. There is just something about it...

Hey, it is good to see ya again, friend! It has been a long time.
And yes, the remake was amazing. Freddy's darker approach and brutality were a thrill. I was always thankful that this Freddy is the one we have in the game.

it costs money. there is not that much reason to spend extra money to make freddy cosmetic better. what needs changing with freddy is his gameplay and power. freddy is not fun to play and is not strong.
