Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

For The People Is A Strong Perk On Its Own And Im Tired Of Pretending Like It's Not

NOTE: If had this sitting in my Drafts for a really long time since I just couldnt find the best way to articulate my thoughts into words, and I still couldnt even today, I thought I might as well post it how it is.

Anytime I see a discussion about For The People being paired with other perks, I always hear/see "For The People is only useable with (insert perk)" or "For The People on it's own isnt good enough to warrant a perk slot" but Im going to massively disagree.

For The People can easily turn a situation in which a Survivor is being tunneled out of the match into something more manageable since you can instantly transfer a health state right after unhooking the Survivor. In most of my SoloQ matches, my teammates recognize that I have For The People and let me use it on them to get them out of tricky situations.

In a SWF, the perk becomes infinitely stronger since you can coordinate healing much easier and can transfer health states to anyone who needs it much easier, this perk having a team support focus shines bright in situations where your team communicates.

One of the easiest to create scenario is the Killer coming back to the hook to tunnel out the Survivor on who is going to die on hook, using FTP on them gives them two guaranteed health states that the Killer has to go through, three health states and potentially more if other anti-tunnel perks like Decisive Strike, Off The Record, or Dead Hard are in play. You buy significantly more time for that Survivor (and by proxy, your entire team).

And, probably the least talked about part of the perk, becoming the Obsession. This perk is really good at trading the Obsession around which can be a deterrent for any Killer who may be using Obsession focused perks like Save The Best For Last. Also the extra Bloodpoints you get from escaping/dying as the Obsession is a really nice bonus that helps make this perk more incentivized to be picked.

And while I know a lot of people do not care for Competitive DBD, For The People has been a really consistent pick for Competitive DBD solely from what the perk enables players to do from a support standpoint.

So yea... consider using For The People... honestly you dont even need Buckle Up since Killers act like it's there anyways and just wont hit you... Idk why you are still reading this...

Before BU change, I have FTP as counter teammate tunneled build, and it works like once per a few match.

Unless that random teammate down at the other side of dropped pallet or window. The time to pick up teammate is not enough before weapon cooldown, especially with STBFL, very situational that flashlight save would be far easier to do and not losing myself a health state.

Without BU. Would you like to play against a FTP, or a flashlight?

(to be true, success a FTP back then feel really good because it was rare, but it is too easy to pull of with BU now)

Id rather play against Flashlights over FTP.

Hands down the most overrated item in the game, completely countered by looking away or staring at a wall, better off bringing a toolbox to shave time off a Generator or a medkit for self-healing.

Transferring the obsession is a weakness for survivors and a strength for killers. The reality of that weakness is that if someone is getting tunneled out and they happen to be the obsession with STBFL in play it means the killer is about to lose perk value the moment that person dies. By switching the obsession from them to yourself you've just extended the amount of time they can get value from that perk. Most players already hate facing a killer with STBFL and would much rather the obsession get tunneled out so they can stop needing to play around it.

For the people is a fine perk on its own, but it also requires you to be a fairly skilled player who can navigate starting a chase injured. Most players simply aren't at that level of skill so it makes sense that the majority of people don't view the perk as purely good on its own. It being a consistent pick in comp dbd cuts both ways as well it showcases its strength, but also highlights its weaknesses as comp dbd has structured rule sets that often ban out better value perks.

Every perk is infinitely stronger in a SWF. That's like saying "every fight is winnable if I have my homies backing me up."

The strength of the health state play varies wildly depending on the killers in play. The high tier killers don't really lose time dealing with the extra health states and several mid tier killers straight up bypass health states. So a lot of this "strength" is actually dependent on the difference in skill between the killer and survivor. Trusting random teammates to be good is crapshoot in the best of conditions.

Well, if you prefer flashlight save that being stunned with 1 being injured and 1 being healthy ; than "flashlight save" that leave 2 survivors injured after success without the stunning. Okay.

That's if they pull off the save. A flashlight is much easier to avoid than a FTP play. If they mess up the flashlight then you have possibly 1 injured and 1 hooked and the survivor with the flashlight has done nothing for awhile. Flashlights aren't really an issue unless they have Background Player.

I agree that FTP is a strong perk but without Buckle Up I think it is fair. It's a hard perk to use but can give a lot of value if pulled off. Just make it not work with Buckle Up and it's fine.

You have to think about avoidability. It is much easier to use FTP than it is to make a Flashlight save in that regard.

If I were going against Flashlights, I can look away, I can stare at a wall, I can equip perks to counter it, I can bait the Survivors out for a free hit, and even with all of that, they can still mistime the Flashlight save, they might not even make it in time or have an angle based on their positioning.

With FTP, especially in a SWF or with Empathy, you can easily coordinate when and where to provide a Survivor a health state. If you want to make things even more simple, you can just instantly use it after unhooking to prevent tunneling.

FTP is easier to use and yields better results in the right hands.

Flashlights are weak, overrated, and easily counterable.

Have you ever think of Swf can simply down in the middle of open space on purpose and teammate has Background player?

That wasnt part of the argument.

The argument was FTP on its own or Flashlights on their own.
