Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Why are people talking about DBD 2?

So some people are saying there needs to be a dbd 2...what would that even be like a sequel or just BHVR pulling on Overwatch by just remaking the game and slapping a 2 on there. Since I never got the point of it usually having a number after the title means its a sequel and other then maybe COD and any sports game most online games competitive games never put a number after it as it's not a sequel it would be a remake. Even then something like DBD if it was remade would sound better with its original name since it's rolls off the tongue. I know some folks will say well some games have a number after their title yeah but it still rolls well off the tongue something like DBD say the full name then put a two after it. It doesn't sound right even saying it in your head doesn't sound right. So in the end I just want to know why do people want a second dbd game unless your talking about a remake which then starts this whole post about how a number doesn't mean it's a remake because I don't want DBD having the Overwatch treatment where a two means it's a sequel when it's not...it's a remake.

People have this strange idea that bhvr would rewrite the entire game from the ground up. Clearly from those that never dealt with software development.

DBD is a GaaS. GaaS don't require sequels because they are in constant development.

I know if I had to start over with a DBD sequel I wouldn't bother playing. It would be a clean break without any time invested.

I'm guessing people probably want the game to be remade so that it has less bugs performs better and looks better.

Personally i think it wouldn't be worth it because it would take years.

DBD would lose it's relevancy in that time and who knows what licensing issues they would have.

Overwatch 2 was never a remake of overwatch 1. It IS overwatch 1 just updated. Overwatch 2 was a cover up to relaunch their monetization systems. They updated the entire game to support something no player wanted (the new monetization)

Dead By Daylight is better off updating itself slowly as it goes as long. You don't need to relaunch the game to make core updates. Fortnite upgraded to unreal engine 5 at some point they didn't start calling it Fortnite 2.

They should just keep Dead By Daylight going until it dies in my opinion that's what would be best for both BHVR and the players.

New DBD mean new engine, new engine mean more modern game feature.

    1. Easy in-game report

    2. Replay feature to learn or catch suspicious player

    3. Better Anti Cheat

    3. More Game Mode?

    4. Better graphic or sound etc

I still feel the same way i think people will move onto other games if DBD stops getting content to keep it relevant. Chapter DLCs are what most people care about not game stability.

The DBD2 talk is just people that know nothing about the industry thinking slapping a number on something makes it a new game. DBD isn't the type of game that needs a sequel as there really isn't too much BHVR could do that can't be done by what they're doing now.

A DBD2 would very much be a OW2 situation and we know how that went.

I don't care about a DBD 2. I want this game to work a bit better. There are still countless issues that only seem to get worse as more content is added. Might be time to make some ongoing adjustments to the spaghetti code, if possible.

I am not that deep into coding, so I don't know how much time, money and effort it would take to sort through this mess or if it would be feasible at all.

The majority of these do not require a completely new game.

I used to complain about the graphics but checked some videos from the olden days and saw the graphics overhaul they did. It is quite amazing to be honest.

This is not the concept of DBD 2.

if DBD were to copy overwatch it would mean the game would stop getting content for years whilst they rebuild the game from the ground up. Overwatch 2 didn't get re-made but the engine was different so they couldn't add overwatch 2 content to overwatch 1 so it meant overwatch 1 was "frozen" for years.

Dead By Daylight already does improve the game and introduce DLCs and im saying they should keep doing that and not do anything like what overwatch did because it wasn't a good thing
