Some players are unnecessarily mean

Just why? What makes you so needlessly toxic? And I don't mean if the killer/survivor was being rude to you and you returned the energy. That's different. I mean just you know you worked hard against someone so why insult them when they never played unfair, they never slugged, tunneled, camped, anything. They did fairly well but you still feel like insulting them is just going to make yourself feel a little bit better because what? You pressed buttons better than someone else? I guess get your Ws where your can.

People feel safe behind their screens allowing them to share an attitude hidden from the real world. Toxicity in gaming is natural and will always happen no matter what.

Nothing you can really do to stop it, but you can be a wholesome killer/survivor. Compliment people who play well in the postgame chat, drop items for survivors/killers, give hatch to the last survivor, give a kill to the killer if you respect how they played, etc. While you don't know them personally, there's no doubt that it'll make their day better.

I feel like anonymous mode allows for even more people to feel like they can be toxic, kinda wish it wasn't anonymous after the match. But yeah, people just take the game very seriously sometimes and in the heat of the moment say something rude/toxic, then there are people who go out of their way to be toxic for their own selfish fun unfortunately. Also it's just due to the existence of being online and people not being know as their real life selves therefore can do whatever they want without consequences.

You're asking why everyone is an #########, but in reality, the vast majority of people are lovely. Some people are jerks. Stop letting them get to you so much. Ignore them.

I can offer my own experiences with this, if it helps. ><

I've dealt with this for a long time across all games and IRL. Jerks, haters, bitter people. They're all like that for different reasons. Being able to hide behind a computer makes it even eaiser for them to act that way. It's very unfortunate.

It can stem from low self esteem, unhappiness, being bullied, jealousy, all kinds of things. Best to not over think it!

I was raised to be kind to everyone, even managed to befriend a lot of my haters.

Just know that it's them and not you, they need a hug. I either ignore them or offer them kindness, depending on the situation.

You know what's funny and infuriating? Since we don't have voice chat, I always picture the player looking like their survivor irl.

Some survivors' demeanor gets on my nerves more than others (Laurie and Leon) 😆

On a brighter note, I always think of you when I'm playing with a Zarina 🤗

Remember that anonymous mode can protect from rudeness, especially when you are a killer and survivors losing want to hurl bad words at you after the match. It allows you to avoid "-rep" and other such messages on your wall (Steam).

In my matches the rudest people never hid their usernames. Never ever. On that particular level I think you just don't care. Whether or not you know the consequences.

Alternatively, you can set your wall on Steam to "Friends Only".

I did that a long time ago. No reason to care for comments of random players I, most likely, will never see again.

Those people are hurting in other aspects of their lives, so whilst they make you feel bad for little bit, remember they are still fuming afterwards and - whilst you can simply move on - they cannot.

Best thing to do is let them fester and move on. Focus on the many who play and are decent individuals and the better aspects of the many trials ahead of you, instead pf the rare ######### many will come across.

It is the toxic trading system. Killer is toxic and slugs. Survivors are mad and go to next match and are unnecessarily toxic to killers they beat. Killer gets angry and is toxic to the next team. Best thing I can say is always be civil and go out of your way to be nice when you can. Can't fix the toxic in DBD but at least you stop any toxic that comes at you from going to the next player.

Alot of people forget their opponents aren't their "enemy" and will bash everything they can. Doesn't help that what you see is just a fraction of what happens so a killer who is pressuring EVERYONE alot can FEEL like he's tunneling you.

Why are there annoying and evil people irl? Same reason.
