What happened to Scourge Hook perks?

Its feels like it’s been a year (or more?) since the last time we got a new scourge hook perk. I’m not entirely sure what the community’s consensus is on them, but I personally haven’t seen much complaining to justify not making any new ones. Have the devs ever given a reason to why we don’t see them anymore?

We might get another with the next chapters release, as we also hadnt seen a new Boon perk until now with Alan Wake.

Me personally, I see this as them taking what they learned with the last batch of Scourge Perks and are holding off on adding new ones. It would suck if another one got abandoned in favor of Pain Rez

Considering they reworked 2 perks into scourges and they are still really bad it’ll probably be a while before they get brought again

Let’s be honest, every scourge hook would be a flop other then ones that automatically slowdown gens as soon as you hook the survivor.

Surely there won’t be a scourge hook that blocks the 3 most progressed gens for 25sec right??….right yeah no way man…..right?

They answered this same question but then about Boon perks some time ago in their Q&A.

They want to keep the new perks close to the killer, they have to make sense lore wise. So in case they can fit that into a scourge or boon perk they will release one. But their aim isn't to create more scourges just to create more scourges.

    (Not my opinions)

I think the point of @MikeyBoi is really good.

If the Devs would release a new Scourge Hook-Perk it would either be weaker than Pain Res and not be used or it would have to be stronger than Pain Res. And IMO Pain Res is already too strong, so an even stronger Perk would not be good.

We also have Gift of Pain and Floods of Rage, both which are really good, but get overshadowed by Pain Res.

Personally, I think that future Scourge Hooks will probably be mediocre, because the Devs will probably not want something stronger than Pain Res. And I would rather get different Perks than Scourge Hook-Perks which will not be used anyway.

There's nothing wrong with perks being overshadowed. Not eveything needs to or can be meta.

I still use Floods of Rage plenty, works particularly well with Make Your Choice so you can see where the unhooker is going/hiding.

Though I do wish Gift of Pain was a little more impactful, the problem is that scourge perks stack, like Boons do. A slowdown perk like GoP stacking with Pain Res could be OP if too strong.

Providing it does something other than straight up gen regression, there's no reason why another Scourge perk wouldn't work.

I think the perk can be slightly weaker, then every hook are scourge hooks. But if you hook, that certain hook lose the power. That way, the perks not affected by the RNG of hooks spawn at 1 side
