Can someone help me with the DBD initialization error?

I recently got a new laptop and went back to NY. However, whenever I tried to launch dead by daylight, it says "the game has initialized incorrectly and may not save your game properly". Interestingly, I had previously gotten a steam error that the cloud wasn't in sync but starting the game seemed to fix that. After which, the game ran smoothly the day before I left, until I later encountered the aforementioned error.

Any assistance to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated!
