Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Champion of Light - is the *haste* good?

I would like to ask those of you who have good understanding of this perk about the haste effect it has while shining a flashlight. Is it good? In which situations? In what ways can it be used? (either for winning or memeing)

I find the perk interesting, but the haste bit is puzzling me regarding its value. I would love to learn more. :)

I believe the point of the Haste effect is so that you can move away from the killer while blinding them, to make more distance between you, so that blinding them at vaults and pallets is more practical. You slow yourself down less, and slow the killer down more.

I haven't used it yet myself but I can say that it's not incredibly strong. As @Caiman said, it allows you to make a little more distance but it's more gimmicky than actually strong.

Although it can be quite annoying to play against.

It's decent at making space and getting away after the blind.

What I've noted is some players will go for that blind but then hang around for reasons unknown (perhaps they want to continue the chase), but it defeats the point of it.

You can use it for a bit of speed whilst out of sight, waiting for an exhaustion perk to set up. It's a decent perk, not often used correctly.

It's alright on its own, though the Hindered is definitely the main draw of the perk if you're using it by itself.

But the 50% Haste REALLY shines if you use Fixated with it since that gives you a combined 70% extra walking speed while shining a flashlight which is almost as fast as running (only about 4% slower than survivor running speed). Run flashlight addons that increase the length of the flashlight beam and you can flashlight killers without losing much distance at all, on top of slowing them down for a few seconds.

The other thing you can do with this combo, is gimmick builds like this one: Champion of Light + Fixated + Sprint Burst + Built to Last. With this, I would use the flashlight to cover distance at almost running speed while recovering exhaustion at the same time AND leaving no scratchmarks. And you can either do this in chase to get SB back mid-chase, outside of chase to cover large distances without wasting your SB, or to quickly cover a distance to hide from the killer without leaving scratchmarks (since technically you are walking and not running) while again preserving your SB. Since this uses up a lot of flashlight battery I threw on BTL as my last perk so I could refill the flashlight when needed and have it last for the entire match. The first match I tried this build, I finished the last generator with the killer on their way (who, unbeknownst to me at the time, had NOED and would've instadowned me) but I was able to slip away without being found since I could go at almost running speed without scratchmarks AND even if he had actually found me I then still would've had SB ready despite quickly getting far away from the generator. It was fun.

I don't know why it even has a cool down.

Should be a token based system from being in chase or getting pallet stuns.
