Killer: The Unknown

The Unknown is a being beyond understanding, though many have tried.

Its personal Perks, Unbound Unforeseen , and Undone , allow it to quickly make sporadic movements, add pressure onto generator progress, and lie to survivors of their coming fate.

-Difficulty Rating: Moderate

Height: Tall

Terror Radius: 32m

Speed: 4.6m

Unbound

Anticipation fuels you, allowing your prey time to spread your rumor.

Choosing to stand idly for 6 seconds, charges your movement speed and vault speed by +50% for 5 seconds or until you injure a survivor.

  • After use, this perk has a cooldown of 90/85/80 seconds.
  • This effect cannot stack with itself or other methods of increasing your movement/vaulting speed such as certain killer powers or other perks.

"I heard it. Running. It was getting closer!" — Anonymous Testimony, 09/09/1979

Undone

Your myth spreads like wildfire, forcing your prey to make subconscious errors they normally wouldn’t.

Increase the likelihood of skill checks appearing for survivors by 5% or 8% if they are injured. Whenever a Survivor fails a Skill Check  while repairing or healing, Undone gains +3 Tokens, up to a maximum of 12/18/24 Tokens.

Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator  consumes all accumulated Tokens and applies the following effects:

  • Instantly regresses the damaged Generator by -1 % per Token of its total Progression.
  • Blocks the damaged Generator for 1 second per Token.
  • Causes the damaged Generator to start regressing once it becomes unblocked.

Undone has a cool-down of 60 seconds.

"Erratic behavior in machinery could be related to [REDACTED], further testing required." — OSS Report, 12/02/1943

Unforeseen

Terror takes many forms and whispers devastating lies in its preys' ears.

Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator  applies Unforeseen for 22/26/30 seconds:

  • Transfers your Terror Radius  to the damaged Generator and sets its range to 32 metres.

·        Grants the Undetectable Status Effect to you.

KILLER POWER: FACELESS

At the start of the trial, your power gauge will slowly fill after 80 seconds. Attacking a survivor improves this process by 10% and you may press the Active Ability Button 2 to trigger your power to the next stage should the gauge complete. You have 4 identities starting with the first in descending order:

Dwight Fairfield:

A hesitant leader. Twist and mock that notion of leadership into a hunting strategy. As Dwight Fairfield your Terror Radius is 4 meters wider at all times and you can Press and hold the power button to charge False Inspiration the then the attack button to activate it. False Inspiration has a 25 second cooldown.

-False Inspiration: Contort your throat and loudly scream in an otherworldly voice that emulates that of Dwight Fairfield’s. Those that are in your terror radius hear their Leader’s call and will receive a very Difficult Skill check if they are healing or repairing or they will if they currently are not. If any of those individuals fail the skill check you present them, they will become oblivious for 45 seconds.

Meg Thomas:

A runner and an athlete who can leap over pesky obstacles. How useful. As Meg Tomas, it takes you half as long to develop stacks of Bloodlust and can press and hold the power button to charge Spider-Crawl then the attack button to activate it. Spider-Crawl has a 25 second cooldown

-Spider Crawl: Flip over backwards and grow 2 more legs out of the sides of your body. Increase your movement speed to 5.4 meters and your Pallet break speed, Wall break speed, Generator break speed and vaulting speed are halved. Spider-Crawl lasts for 10 seconds.

Claudette Morel:

A loner and a natural healer. If only they could heal the damage you can deal. As Claudette Morel, all injured survivors leave behind 10% more blood than before. You can also now press and hold the Power button to charge Venom and the attack button to launch it. Venom has a cooldown of 8 seconds.

-Venom: Twist your hand to form a mini projectile launcher. Upon hitting a surface other than the floor or a survivor, this projectile will ricochet and will injure healthy Survivors, providing them the Broken status effect for 20 seconds, or the Deep Wound Status effect if they are injured. These statuses cannot both be placed on the same survivor at the same time.

Jake Park:

A stealthy outdoorsman and a survivalist. This practical knowledge could be of use to you in locating your prey. As Jake Park your terror radius is now non-directional. Press and hold the power button to charge Unreal and the attack button to activate it.

-Unreal: Whenever a survivor enters a Darkness Plume created by your Hallucinations for the next 20 seconds, your Hallucination will silently approach them and attack them. This attack will not injure the survivor however, it will illuminate them with Killer Instinct for 4 seconds.

SPECIAL ABILITY: HALLUCINATIONS

The Unknown will intermittently create Hallucinations. A maximum of 4 Hallucinations can co-exist in the environment at a time. Hallucinations cannot be created while charging/utilizing any of your four Identity related powers, performing interactions, or while in proximity to several Environmental Objects. These Hallucinations will spawn whenever a unique survivor spots you outside of chase and within 40 meters of them. These Hallucinations create a plume of impenetrable darkness that you can see through but survivors cannot, only able to see 2 meters around them when inside. Inside this Darkness Plume, survivors will hear your voice intermittently leading them towards or away from your Hallucination as well as hear a non-directional terror-radius. This plume starts with a 10-meter wide radius but will incrementally grow by 10 meters every 60 seconds up to a max of 40 meters. Survivors can remove Hallucinations and the Darkness Plume from the environment with the Dispel ability, which takes 4 seconds. A new Hallucination may spawn after the survivor who completed the action spots you again when within range and after 20 seconds has passed.

SPECIAL SURVIVOR INTERACTION

Throughout the trial, Survivors may find 4 Video Cameras atop tri-pods or more in chests. These cameras do not count towards the Survivor’s held item inventory and using it drains the camera of its charges; one charge every second out of 60. At the press of a button, survivors may use these cameras to pause The Unknown’s power progression by revealing its true form. By pulling these cameras to their faces, entering first person view, they are met with semi-grainy footage and are afflicted with the Blindness condition while using it. Survivors can still use their primary items while their camera is being used as well. After 8 seconds of consecutively capturing the Unknown on tape up to 40 meters away at max, the survivor’s vision will progressively become more glitchy as your true form is Revealed to them. Your Faceless power progression shall then freeze for 45 seconds or remove 25% of its max charge if it is complete. The survivor will also see this unholy version of you sprint at them at top speed and they will be be revealed by Killer Instinct to you for 4 seconds. Survivors may also use these cameras to navigate through the Darkness Plume your Hallucinations create by extending their fields of vision by 6 meters. Your Faceless power progression cannot be hindered by a survivor with a camera if you have already been Revealed within the last 80 seconds. During this period, you will be intermittently visible while on camera. If a survivor loses sight of you while trying to reveal you, their progression will regress by 12.5% per second, as their camera footage settles back to normal.

Add-Ons

Blurry Photo (Brown)

The photo was found at an abandoned campsite.

The campers were never seen again.

  • With this add-on, the Unknown can teleport to any available Hallucination that is at least 3 metres away from it. This add-on disables the function of the Darkness Plume.
  • Teleportation has a cool-down of 25 seconds.

Punctured Eyeball (Brown)

The station was a scene of madness.

The officers had seemingly turned on each other.

Notebook of Theories (Yellow)

His studio apartment was empty and reeked of black mould.

The book was the only thing left.

  • Whenever a survivor is using a camera, it now has a 5% chance of glitching every second they use it, showing loud static which could interrupt a survivors Reveal attempt of you.

When the hiker was rescued from the mountain pass, she insisted her companion would never wander off alone.

  • As Dwight Fairfield, minimize the size of the Difficult Skill checks you cause with False-Inspiration by 2%.

He thought the key to solving the mystery lay beyond the forest, and feared he would never return.

  • As Jake Park, increase the required field of view for a survivor to spawn a Hallucination by 5 meters.

  • As Claudette Morel, increase the time an injured survivor is Broken by your Venom by 10 seconds.

Footprint Cast (Green)

The cast sits in the Museum of the Weird in Sarasota, Florida and has long since been debunked.

  • Start the trial as Meg Thomas
  • As Meg Thomas, Increase the effect of any Haste affects by 2%.

Front-Page Article (Green)

The assailant had torn gaping holes in the walls of the cabin, and drove the family into the woods.

What emerged from his mind would be his undoing.

  • Reduce the max vision range when a survivor uses a camera inside a Hallucination’s Darkness Plume by 2 meters.
  • Increase the frequency of the voices they will hear once inside a Hallucination’s Darkness Plume.

Vanishing Box (Green)

The magician was popular at children's parties, and quickly became the top suspect.

  • Start the Trial as Jake Park.
  • As Jake Park, your Unreal power will Deep Wound the survivor, rather than highlight them with Killer Instinct.

Discarded Milk Carton (Purple)

She decided to take the long way home, and waved goodbye to her friends before parting ways.

  • As Claudette Morel, your Venom power’s projectile will bounce twice. Hitting a survivor directly with it will also Hinder them by 9%

Homemade Mask (Purple)

The killer had made the mask in the shed in his backyard, where he would bring the others when the sun went down.

  • Survivors successfully performing the Dispel interaction on a Hallucination suffer from the Blindness Status Effect for 40 seconds.

Obscure Game Cartridge (Purple)

Some maintained Project Apple-Pie evolved over time, turning to new forms of media for results.

  • As Dwight Fairfield, when you use your False-Inspiration power within 36 meters of any of your Hallucinations, they will copy the ability up to 12 meters around them.

Serum Vial (Purple)

The molecular structure of the substance was synthesized in the lab, but its effects could never be replicated.

  • Survivors entering the Darkness Plume of a Hallucination suffer from the Exhausted Status Effect for 10 seconds.

Captured By The Dark (Red)

The documentary purported that the disappearances were linked to small-town cinemas.

Audiences left the theater feeling uneasy.

  • After a survivor completes the Dispel action, their aura is revealed to you for 5 seconds and your Hallucination has a 50% chance of attacking the survivor. If it does, that survivor becomes Invisible and inaudible to everyone except you for 15 seconds or until they are put in the dying state.
  • Randomize your next Identity when using your Faceless power.

Iridescent OSS Report (Red)

The report was redacted to the point of being meaningless. But still, theorists tried to extract meaning from it.

  • When a survivor is using a camera and you are within their field of vision, you become intermittently visible to them for 3 seconds, extending the amount of time they have to keep you in sight. If a survivor successfully Reveals your true form, the figure that sprints towards them will damage them for 1 health state.
  • After a survivor Reveals you, your Faceless power pauses its progression by an extra 15 seconds or regresses from 100% by 35%.

With the chapter releasing next week, I wanted to share an alternate idea I had for the Unknown's power and perks as I was admittedly dissatisfied on his PTB release. Over time he has grown on me, but I still wanted a power that reflected what I thought he would be like from the Teasers and Trailers. One that reflected his Urban Myth status and his mimicry/shapeshifting capabilities while still keeping elements people did like on our true killer.

If you have read my entire post, I thank you and hope you have a blessed day.
