How did a 34 GB update happen? Is this normal?

I was playing the game last night for a few rounds just fine. Nothing unusual about the games at all. I call it a night and close down the game, turn off my computer, and go to bed.
Today I get back home from work. I turn on my computer and am greeted by steam with a 34 GB update for Dead by Daylight. Thats nearly the entire game. And steam is telling me that it's an "update."

Is this from the update to unreal engine 5?

    Yes it is. Updates are not typically that large

    Engine update. Pretty much a full install.

    Yes, it's honestly almost exclusively because of the engine update
