There should be some kind of exam every player must take in order to access soloQ

And it should include general information about all of the perks. If the player fails to answer correctly what a perk does - he fails the exam and can only try again after a 24h cooldown. The cooldown should increase exponentially after each consecutive failure, and it should take just one wrong answer to fail the whole exam. And yes, it should be strictly timed too.

I was just accused of cheating by a teammate for using plot twist. Of course they tried to heal me while I was at it, good thing I knew to hold shift and luckily they didn't attract the killer. And I have more than 1k hours in DbD, so it's not that potato entry level of MMR. It was a player with a decent MMR who had no idea what one of the most famous perks does. They also were surprised they couldn't pick me up, so they don't know about the shift too. That entry exam should either filter them all from the game all just force them to learn it. That one occasion nearly costed us a game, and it happens constantly.

I know you're just having a rant, but an exam to play a game? Lol funny stuff

If the matchmaking in this game actually worked correctly this wouldn't be needed, but considering it doesn't, honestly this idea wouldn't be enough. People would need a 2 hour training video for every patch as well, mandatory test included.

Ah yes then I can tell people my major was Surviving in soloQ with a minor in boons.

I know it's kinda wild take, but i agree. Not completely, but agree. Amount of survivors playing this game without knowing even basis is terrifying.
I think there should be some really long education with all basic nuances and gameplay mechanics before entering real matches, game isn't about hiding anymore and you should know at least some things before start.

The biggest problem is there are over 100 perks per side at this point

If you're not constantly playing like me, you don't know what a lot of the perks do. Hell, I have WAY too many hours in this game and there are plenty of perks that I don't know what they do and I need to look at them at the end game screen to find out what they do.

The Chaos Shuffle has been wonderful for me because I'm now learning what a bunch of perks I never look at do.

This post is of course black humor, but I can understand why you went out of your way to contribute.

Task 1: Write down the perk descriptions of all 140 survivor perks.

Task 2: The killer got an insta down. Name all possible causes.

Task 3: Name all totem spawns on each individual map.

I have a few thousand hours in this game and I guarantee I wouldn't make it through. Not even close. 😂

So basically everyone would fail the exam, cause 90% of those perks never got used by anyone. But i agree it would be nice if players would have at least a fundamental understanding of this game.

Turn it into the exam minigame from Yakuza LAD.

I actually legitimately support this idea.

Not only do I personally like doing tests and exams, but the idea of Dead by Daylight also referring to how you'll feel studying for the DBD exam is hilarious to me.

I will double major in stealth and boons.

I don't even care if people know what perks do. The real challenge is getting 4 players who have their monitors turned on.

There should be some linear algebra problem to solve to access soloQ.

Horrible idea and there is no redeeming that, no you should certainly not be forced to do any of that, no cooldown nothing, like how are people supposed to even play the game after a stressfull day and then the game comes around with more work… Sure as hell many people won't touch such a game again.

Closing the thread here, as some comments regarding those that prefer to play Survivor by themselves were getting out of hand.

Let's please remember to keep comments respectful towards others; including how they play the game (within the rules), what platform or hardware they play it on, or whether they play alone or with friends.
