Deadly Brushstrokes challenge

From level 3 of the current tome, the "Deadly Brushstrokes" challenge (picture bellow) has me a little confused. I just played 2 games as The Artist with multiple downs with her power, and only got at least 1 half of it per game. Does anyone know if it's broken? Or am I just misinterpreting it, since the wording is a little weird.

    From what I can understand from the description, it seems you don't need to down them with Crows, but injure them with power and then down them.
