What's even the point playing survivor anymore?

When the killer can just tunnel you or one of your teammates at 5 gens and there is practically nothing you can do. Tunneling can realistically be countered in coordinated SWFs, and it still would require wasting half of perk slots for basic needs, so what is the point playing soloQ then? It's as if you are not even meant to play, but instead to be human-controlled NPC for the killer's amusement. People complain about survivors giving up on the first hook, but even if they don't give up - the killer just tunnels and wins in almost the same time as if one of the survivors would've gone next on hook. So tell me, is there actually any substantial difference between one survivor going next on first hook at 5 gens and the same survivor being tunneled out of the game at 5 gens? The end result is completely the same, yet one is being complained about and the other is ignored both by the devs and the community.
