Is Iri Shard Compensation only granted for duplicate DLC purchases from the platform store?

It looks like Iri Shard compensation is only going to count if you bought the DLC's separately from the platform store (e.g. steam, nintendo, etc). Do they not intend to compensate folks who used auric cells to buy the same character? I ask because when they originally brought up cross progression in a player satisfaction survey last year, iirc, they framed it like only things purchased in the in-game store would transfer, so I imagine I'm not the only one who made purchases based on that information (e.g. bought characters with auric cells rather than through DLC purchases from the platform store).

Granted, I'm not sure it would work for me anyway. I bought around $50 worth of characters using auric cells, but even if they did give the iri shard compensation for auric cells, Nintendo is only one way so I'm not sure it would count 😥
