Fun fact about 2v8 map sizes
The wiki recently added the sizes of the 2v8 maps and while digging through other map sizes, I noticed something interesting from DbD's history I'd like to share.
Before 2v8, the largest maps were the two Shelter Woods and Azarov's Resting Place, tied at 176 square tiles (a unit the wiki uses, a square tile is an area of 8 by 8 meters). Even the smallest 2v8 map (Thompson House) is slightly larger than that at 180 square tiles. The now largest map in the game is the 2v8 version of Mother's Dwelling at 200 square tiles and I think anyone who's played on that knows how large it feels.
However, did you know that there used to be larger maps still in the game at some point in the past? Old players may remember that before its size rework, Pale Rose used to be the largest map in the game. Currently, it's a mid-sized map at 161 square tiles, but it used to be a whopping 215 square tiles.
But that's not all. Pale Rose was actually reduced in size twice. The original map, released all the way back in December 2016 alongside The Hag, was an insane 284 square tiles large.
That's 42% larger than 2v8's Mother's Dwelling, which was designed to accommodate 10 players. Imagine playing OG Trapper on that thing.
No wonder veterans complained frequently about Pale Rose being too big.

That’s some cool trivia! I played on original Pale Rose back in the day but it’s pretty eye opening to realize how huge it was compared to modern maps.
