2v8 not included in new roadmap?
I really don't understand, many players are having the most fun in years and the devs are going to take it away from us so soon without any plan to reimplement? The devs need to start listening to the players because we want 2v8 to STAY.

They said in the beginning that 2v8 would be temporary.
They also said, iirc, that there would be multiple iterations of it.
I don't really want it to stay. It's fun, no doubt, but it needs improvement and is negatively impacting the base game.

I mean, the fact that the first version was temporary had been established...multiple times. And just because it's not on the roadmap doesn't mean it's not coming back

The amount of posts with this kind of sentiment is baffling to me. We've known since the beginning it would be temporary and we've known since the beginning it'd be coming back after they've iterated on it, there's no reason to think either of those things would be changing.

To be very clear, 2v8 will return. This roadmap does not include absolutely everything. Chapters, events, game modes and modifiers are still planned, just not included here.
This roadmap is purely for updates to existing content for the main game. Any changes being made to 2v8 specifically will be announced separately when they are ready to avoid confusion.

This mode doesn't interest me whatsoever and is damaging 1v4 queue times. I do not want it to stay, nor do I want it to return.

They said during the anniversary stream that 2v8 will come back but not this year. They take it off to improve it and add more content to it. So don't worry, it will come back and I am pretty sure they do their best to make it better for everyone because they know about the success of this game mode

A lot of this discourse (particularly on Twitter and TikTok) is coming from casual or temporary players who don't play the game outside of major events or content drops so naturally they aren't up to date with developer communications.

The queue times for regular DbD are through the roof right now. I literally cannot play either mode without an unreasonable wait. Your "fun" is coming at the expense of the base game. Y'know, the thing that people have played DbD for for 8 years now. The thing we all bought the game for.

People has been asking 2vs8 for 8 years and many have always wanted to play killer with friend or with larger group survivor.
If queque times is your only problem that would be so easy to fix especially 1vs4. Devs said they put in future separate bp bonuses if that really the only reason many play 2vs8. You should ask that and not ask removing game mode many enjoy playing.
Base game would be fine once 2vs8 is pernament many will return to play it more. Survivor in future just need to be made more fun. In base game survivor has gotten more stale and that's the real issue.

Irrelevant. DbD is fundamentally a 1v4 game. If people don't like that then they should play something else instead of expecting the core playerbase to foot the bill (longer queue) to facilitate their drastic overhauls to the game.

I’ve finally gotten to play 2v8 as killer and it’s super fun. I like it as both roles. I prefer 1v4 as killer because to me at least it’s easier to win. But I love having a partner in 2v8.

That argument doesn't work the other way around because you bought a 1v4 game. It's hardly fair for people to decide they'd like DbD better if they drastically overhauled the fundamentals of the game, and then expect the regular 1v4 crowd to be okay with being turfed out.

Honestly, the best thing for the game currently is for 2v8 to disappear. It's not functional as the primary game mode, as the matchmaking is barely working, and almost none of the killers are available. It's draining players from the regular mode, which is making the matchmaking worse in 1v4. There's not enough players to sustain both at the same time.
The only option is to merge both together somehow. I think having two killers is better for the game, but it completely uproots the gameplay loop that BHVR has built and monetized all these years. Whatever they decide to do, it's gonna take time to do.
Stop giving BHVR the Karen treatment, and give them the space to do the work that's needed.

And how long would it be before people had the same complaints about the new game mode, which would be arguably more stale with a tiny number of killers/classes and all players being silo-ed into one role by the killer or class that they choose?

I think 2v8 is better for killers and if we’re being honest that’s the role BHVR wants to feel more attractive. Not really sure how the regular queue is negatively impacted by 2v8.

If they added perks and all killers to 2v8 then it would become the most popular game mode by far. Many players has prefers 2v8, their fun shouldn't be sacrificed so that killer mains in 1v4 (a small minority of the playerbase) can have shorter queues.

No it wouldn't.

The 1v4 crowd is the VAST majority of the playerbase. It's the gameplay loop that's been sustained for 8 years now. It's the reason everyone who has bought the game, bought the game. That's not to say a lot of people aren't enjoying 2v8, because clearly a lot of people like it. But 1v4 is the bread and butter of this game, and any assertion otherwise is just ludicrous.

I mean is that really so different? People always throw in 1v4. We should be immune to that by now. Queue times are longer yes but my longest has been maybe 8 minutes. Not unbearable

It's not wrong because it's ruining the queue times for killer in the main mode. In the best of worlds, both 1v4 and 2v8 would cohabitate harmoniously but as of now this world simply cannot exist.

Before 2v8 it was in the mid 40's dropping to high 30's occasionally. 2v8 has seen an increase by 10K? With more updates and more content 2v8 could bring even further increased playerbase if its already performing well (which it is despite forum fearmongering)

2 v 8 isn't ready to be a permanent mode yet. It still has quite a lot to be fleshed out not the least of which is how they are going to balance out the wait times. I'm personally tired of being shoe horned into playing survivor or waiting 10 minutes for a match. Neither of those are acceptable for me.

Again, this is normal for there being an event on. It's not a permanent increase, and the numbers are slowly dropping again. Which is very obvious from the graph.

I'm going to miss it, too. 2v8 is way more fun for me than 1v4 — I'm hoping that, if it's popular enough, it will eventually be a permanent game mode, but who knows?

Yup. 2v8 is really just a bloodpoint farming event for most survivors.
The numbers already dropped to pre-2v8 levels within 48 hours of 2v8 being released. It was at 50k before the event started, I'm guessing from the anniversary and Lara Croft.

They could do what Identity V does which is keep their 2v8 locked and only open during specific parts of the day. Few hours during morning, afternoon, evening, very late night, repeat

thats just stupid. a game evolves and if many people enjoy 2v8 bhvr needs to work out a way how both 1v4 and 2v8 can exist together.
i for one will never ever play a single game of 1v4 ever again simply because i love that im not alone anymore. since i started dbd i struggle to play more then 3 games as a killer cause when all the pressure rest on me alone i struggle. now i have team mate and i feel so much better playing.

welp I just say bye then because if it stay I not playing anymore wait time to much and at first I loved the mode but the fun was ruin by some killers when playing survivor and as killer tho genrushing is not easy I think it can be done in this mode.

This is so bizarre to me. If the only fun you have in this game is when they drastically change it during events, then it sounds to me that you don’t actually like DbD.
Which is fine. But what isn’t fine IMO is buying a 1v4 game, realising you don’t like it, and instead of just recognising you made a mistake, badgering the developers to change everything about it to the detriment of queue times and developer resources.
I’ve always maintained that I have no issue with alternate game modes so long as the base game doesn’t suffer for them. But it’s very clear that 2v8 is detrimental to 1v4, and so long as that’s true, 2v8 can’t stay. Put 2v8 in customs or have it come back for a weekend once a month or something. But make this mode permanent? Can’t and shouldn’t happen.
