The Witcher | Dead by Daylight | Survivor Chapter
In a world of monsters, men do not need heroes… they need experts.
The Witcher series, created by author Andrzej Sapkowski, has garnered a cult following with both the mainstream and sub-communities alike. We often take perspective from our protagonist, legendary monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia in his search for coin, love, and purpose. Often in pursuit of his protégé and surrogate daughter, Cirilla of Cintra, we take our hunt this time to the fog as Cirilla's dormant powers land her within the Entity's clutches.
Survivor: Geralt of Rivia
Both monster hunter and pariah, Geralt does what he can to spare the innocent of an untimely demise, often just to receive spite for his spoils. Suave yet reserved, Geralt brings unparalleled expertise when it comes to facing supernatural danger.
Geralt's personal perks Witcher's Perception, Boon: Sign of Yrden, and Codex Entry allow Geralt to analyze the beasts he faces and ward them off for others to get to safety.
Witcher's Perception:
The fog's residents bring with them skills that allow them to hunt. You bring with you the skills to analyze and understand their tactics.
Upon seeing the Killer within your line of sight for the first time in the trial, their aura is revealed to you for 20/25/30 seconds. If their aura is ever revealed to you by any means including this one, you may determine the state of their primary power via the intensity of their aura. Should the killer's primary or currently selected power be on cooldown or have 0 charges to it, their aura will be revealed to you in white or red if it is fully available to them.
("Never pounce on an advantage as soon as it appears. Wait until it stands to have maximum effect" Uncle Vesimer's words." - Ciri)
Boon: Sign of Yrden
A protective sign taught by the school of Kaer Morhen to ward off evil.
Press and hold the Active Ability button on a Dull or Hex Totem to bless it and create a Boon Totem. Soft chimes ring out in a radius of 24 metres.
Once the killer spends a collective total of 120 seconds inside this boon's radius, the killer will be stunned by purple lightning for 3 seconds. The time required to achieve this affect is shaved an additional 10/15/20 seconds after the initial lightning strike. After this amount of total time required is reduced, the killer sees the aura of this Boon within 10 metres of it. If the killer is performing a break action such as kicking a generator, or destroying a pallet or breakable wall, they will instead be hindered 6% for 4 seconds.
(The witchers adapted the spell, making use of the fact that it does not require knowledge of a magical formula—concentration and the gesture are enough. That's why they call it a Sign. - Yennifer)
Codex Entry
Any Witcher knows that the most powerful weapon against monsters is knowledge.
For every killer you face through out the trials, keep a codex of your encounters with them. Anytime you apply a negative status effect to a particular killer, that killer suffers from that effect an additional 5% longer depending on how many times you have faced that killer before up to a max of 15/20/25%. You also recover from any temporary negative status effects inflicted by their power, add-ons or currently selected perks 7.5/10/12.5% faster.
("Beware an old man in a profession where men usually die young." - Geralt)
Bio
Geralt, along with his allies faced trial after trial in order to keep his ward, Ciri, safe from the Wild Hunt's clutches. However when the threat of Armageddon knocks on their door, Ciri was forced to sacrifice herself and her dormant power. Geralt had always held onto faith for Ciri. She learned from him after all. He would never allow her to head into the unknown unprepaired. But how does one prepair for the end of the world? Or the loss of a child?
One week passes. The world is safe. All is made well again. All except for Geralt. "Where has she gone? Why hasn't she returned?" he asks. His lover and arcane partner, Yennifer, leads the Lodge of Sorceresses to search tirelessly through the misty realms of the multiverse to potentially bring back their ward but it's to no avail. Both Yenn and Geralt are assailed by visions of the worst possible outcome. Try as they might, the mists and the rituals the Lodge conducts suggests a grim truth. Ciri did not survive. The sight of her chilled corpse lies firmly within the back of the Sorceresses' minds. Fate would separate them thusly for the final time.
Despite doing everything he could for her, Geralt does not get to reunite with his daughter. Having the last of his hope snuffed out, he resigns himself to a grim yet obscure fate. He seeks out Ciri's medallion for personal comfort, yet it lies within the clutches of a crone. The final one Ciri herself did not get to kill. Once Geralt kills this crone, he clutches Ciri's amulet tightly. A wolven circlet just like his own. Thoughts of what fate could have been crosses his mind. A life where she gets to live happy and freely. A life where he can continue to watch over her as he and Yenn grow old and boring together. For the first time in a long time, tears strike down the white wolf's face as he is surrounded by more monsters the crone fortolled before her passing. As the howls of beasts breakdown the door, he whispers to himself a wish "I just wish I could see her one last time." With these words, a fog swells around him and swallows Geralt whole.
Survivor: Cirilla of Cintra
A princess born with the "Elder-Blood". An experimental magic created by great elven wizards before the age of humans. These powers grant Ciri great power, yet also the curse of forever being hunted by wicked forces. After Geralt mandated the "Law of Surprise" as payment for a mission, Ciri's and Geralt's fates have been entwined ever since.
Ciri's personal perks Swallow Spirit, Teamwork: Destined Fates, and Realmwanderer allow for her and her companions to transverse the planes with mystic grace.
Swallow Spirit
The power of the Elder-Blood is mitigated here in the fog. Only those who seek to communion with it's residents may use its mysterious abilities.
The auras of crows within 12/14/18 metres of you are revealed to you in white. Press the active ability button while facing a crow to transport yourself to the location of the crow or the closest available spot near the crow. After using this perk, you then become Exhausted for 40 seconds and are highlighted with killer instincts for 4 seconds.
("I tell you that the time of the sword and axe approaches, the time of the Wolf's Blizzard. The Time of the White Frost and White Light, the Time of Madness and Disdain, Tedd Deireadh, the Final Age." -Ithlinne's Prophecy)
Teamwork: Destined Fates
Increase the likelihood of yourself becoming the obsession by 100%. So long as you are the obsession you benefit from +3% Haste bonus. Should one other survivor enter chase with the killer while you are also being chased, you share any positive status effects with each other, including the aforementioned Haste bonus. Survivors who are not the obsession retain these benefits for an additional 4/5/6 seconds after leaving the chase. Status effects of the same type do not stack on top of each other, but instead the greater version of the effect will be shared.
("The poet Dandelion contemplates whether human life is ruled by Destiny. Dandelion mentions the Law of Surprise — when a witcher demands from a man rescued on the road that which he does not expect once he returns home. It turns out to be a child born during the father's absence. Witchers take the Unexpected Children to their fortresses and train them to be their successors. Dandelion also wonders whether love can bind people with bonds of destiny. In no ballad does he provide a clear answer to the questions posed." - Lady of the Lake)
Realmwanderer
The trenches of unknown worlds are where you call home.
Realmwanderer grants you 1/2/3 tokens. To consume these tokens, rummage through an open chest. Consuming a token guarantees a Very Rare Map once the rummage action is completed. Additionally while armed with a Very Rare Map obtained by the use of this perk, press the Secondary Action button while using the Map to place a Pillar of Light at your current location. Do so again at a separate location to create a gateway that only you can see and access. Transporting this way consumes all the charges to your map and dispels the Pillars of Light. Transporting this way also highlights you with Killer Instinct for 4 seconds as well.
("Ugh… I hate portals." - Geralt)
Bio
Cirilla has toyed with fate and destiny ever since she was but a young girl. Yet in the events of the White Frost, Ciri was forced to confront her fate for the final time. She would not have countless innocents suffer as a result of her negligence. She had a responsibility to protect others. It's what Geralt would have done. Ciri treks into the heart of the world-shaking blizzard, remembering her time with her loved ones. She owes it to them to give them back the time they all spent protecting her. She faces the White Frost and uses her latent Elder-blood powers to quell it.
A short time later, Ciri wakes up again. "What? I'm alive? I'm alive!" Ciri brings herself to her feet, wondering how this could be. She remains within this frosty plane, yet it is still. No storms, or strife to be seen. She wonders if her sacrifice was truly needed. Before she can summon another thought, the voice of a man cuts her off. "Fancy seeing you here, your highness. Here, at the end of days." Ciri questions the man as he answers that he is a wish granter. He shows her that her sacrifice did work and that her home world is safe. All save for the most important part of it. He shows her Geralt. "What is he doing?" she questions. "He is about to die." the man says. He shows her Geralt's eventual path towards self-destruction. Overcome with grief with what he believes to be her death, Geralt resigns himself to a suicide mission in the boggy trenches of a crone's hut. Ciri draws her sword and forces the man to let her pass, so that she may save Geralt from himself. The man snaps her sword with the tips of his fingers and then speaks "Play me, girl. If you win, I shall grant you both one wish." Ciri is forced into a high stakes game of Gwent. "And if you win?" she asks him. "Then I get to watch you live throughout your lives." he says.
They play for several days straight, all while Geralt's fate hangs in the balance. Once monsters knock at Geralt's door, Ciri outplays the man, beating him. "Ha! I win! Now you listen to me, well and good!" Ciri tries to forge her wish carefully however the man amplifies the sounds made through the portal that show's Geralt's fate. He is beginning to succumb to the hoard. Motivated by the pained wails of her father, Ciri makes her wish hastily. "I wish to save his life!" Silence falls. The portal closes. The man speaks "Wishes granted." "Huh?" A cold fog then swallow's Ciri, spiraling into a dark pit.
The man then claps. "I told you I'd be back, Geralt. You may not have believed me but I wasn't lying this time. Enjoy yourselves down there. Inside, all lives are saved… and yet… none truly live."
