New 2v8 Sounds Like a SwF Playground
So with the news of 2v8 returning It wasn't returning without at least some buffs to survivor because thats how this game works. From what I have heard so far 2v8 just sounds like it's designed around those SwF bully squads they are going to have an absolute field day when this mode drops again. Being able to flashlight blind, rebuild pallets, unbreakable at base it already sounds like this won't be a good time for killer this time around.
I know exactly how this mode will play out against SwF's, 4 will just slam gens, 2 will commit to chases and the other 2 will follow for blind saves, rebuilding pallets and as SwF's do they know how to keep their distance just enough so that if the killer notices them they can just be far enough away to Shift W forward if the killer leaves a slug to which point that basekit unbreakable is charging up, Killer goes for the pick up because they have to or unbreakable kicks in and in comes that survivor teammate with a blind stun leading to a chase reset. BING BING BING BING 4 gens pop rinse repeat.
Fog Whisperers themselves even exposed how easy survivor was in the first version of 2v8 just watch the very first match they had against BHVR it was an absolute roll to the point of where the 2nd match it was so incredibly obvious that the 2nd match was staged. Twitch chat was able to immediately notice this and called it out on the spot and thats exactly what happened when the playerbase got to play. If the survivors were glued to their objective they just win no matter how good or quick your chases were. 8 gens to 24 hooks with no way of being able to sacrifice someone more efficiently it was very obvious how matches would play out.
Also why are survivors being rewarded with increased gen progression for misplaying (getting hooked) that makes absolutely 0 sense there is 8 of them gen speed is going to be ridiculously quick this time around. 200% gen regression in the mode last time was an absolute joke, people read 200% as a large number but if you know about the killers base regression which is 1/4th of a solo survivor 200% is just double Ruin speed which even that isn't crazy fast. Which meant in 2v8 for the most part kicking gens was a waste of time because if you chase 3 off, kick the gen then chase one of them the other two just jump back on and your regression did nothing.
"But you have Blight, Nurse and Spirit this time around, 3 S-Tier killers"
Yes but what makes those killers stronger and what the better players will do with them is use their best addons and perks. I can't see Spirit in 2v8 having Mother Daughter Ring at base or Blight having Compound Thirty-Three at base. In fact unless Spirit has speed addons at base she might even be weak in this mode as scratch marks will be everywhere throwing her off.
Deathslinger, while fun in 1v4 but still weak compared to Huntress I can't see Slinger being too interesting in 2v8 I can just see him being there for highlight compilations hitting long range flick shots but not actually landing hits because his chain will no doubt consistently break whether it be due to map clutter or a survivor running across the chain breaking it.
I understand that they needed a reason for people to play survivor this time around to potentially help queues but overbuffing them for the sake of "we want people playing survivor" just means matches against certain groups just won't be in anyway a fun experience to play against, It's going to end up being a one sided bully simulator. The reason why killer queues were long last time wasn't because they were "OP" as people claimed its because this has never ever happened before where killers can play with their friends, of course people will be playing killer. Even one of my friends who NEVER plays DBD decided to jump on to join my killer matches but has refused to play since then.
it's great 2v8 is returning in a short time frame but honestly with the direction its heading for balance I dont see a valid reason to just not have all killers be available to play "Because certain combos will be OP!" The mode already sounds like an unbalanced mess this time around, allowing all killers just makes the mode more chaotic and gives more variety. Just from what I have heard so far

I can actually agree with a lot of your points here and wanted to add some others.
As a survivor main I don't agree with forcing pick up animations. There are too many survivors and extra pallets to keep track of to deny hooks and of course it wastes more killer time to clear the area and then pick up. This will force killers to play in close proximity and not split up. While that is great for some, solo killers can get stomped in a corner while facing a 4 or 5 man team just because someone is running around with a flashlight or the downed survivor is at a pallet.
I also don't think gen speed up and slowdown is a good idea. If killers get penalized for 'hooking' by making gens faster why would you not try and snowball slugs? Yeah, they said there will be a pick up mechanic but slugging snowballs still occur with unbreakable in the game.
As for the killer classes, I'll reserve judgment because maybe they mitigate some of the issues we see with a well coordinated team.
Personally, I think to encourage more survivor play keep the bp bonus substantial. Who cares if survivors are earning more than killers if playing killer is fun to play?
I'd also be interested to know how much of the slowdown in killer queues could be attributed to the fact that you needed double the survivors per match.
I don't want to kill killer fun for the trade off of increasing survivor enjoyment so I'm hoping that I'm either wrong about my assumptions or some of these changes will be reverted and soon.
