Why I'm still see the skull merchant trying to holding 3 generators?

I mean after all this reworks, after nerfing most of the slow down perks and adding the anti 3 gen.

The funny thing is that despite her choosing the closest 3 generators at the beginning of the match, my team (SoloQ) was able to break this strategy within only 4 minutes and the entire team escaped.

In chat ..... it can be said that the skull merchant was not happy.

Despite this, it was surprising to see some people still clinging to this strategy and this killer.

Holding a 3-gen is something that any killer can benefit from if they know what they're doing, and separately, there's a bizarre number of people who think that Skull Merchant still excels at doing so above other killers even before her latest update kneecapping her.

I'd be surprised to see someone still trying it these days too, though. Frankly, I'd be surprised to see a Skull Merchant at all, and if I did I'd expect them to be doing something more fundamentally effective.

To be fair, every killer can defend a 3 gen. I did it recently with Knight and I am pretty sure he can do it more effectively than current Skull Merchant.

I've seen one or two during the event, but I don't think they were having a good time. There were situations where there was nothing she could do, simply because of how severe her nerfs were.

Merchant has been nerfed so heavily that trying to hold a 3-gen is basically the only thing she can do anymore. And she does it so badly compared to about 99% of the rest of the roster. Unless the survivors are actually brain dead, she is a free win for them at this point.

I saw a few of her old iteration, not often but it did happen occasionally. I wish I saw more, honestly, she was pretty fun to face just by default.

Funnily, I've seen exactly one person in my games playing Skull Merchant since her latest set of changes… and it was literally Pixel Bush. The one guy still playing Merchant…

Because they're deluded into thinking that the strategy still works. And against bad survivors, it always will. But against good survivors, it never has. Even a moderate amount of game knowledge and strategy would tell you that all you have to do, to break a 3-gen, is to push the 2 furthest gens and not get downed. Just undo the regression event, hold W at the first sight/sound of the killer, and soon they won't be kickable anymore. Then they killer's screwed. It's always been like this, excepting the gen blocking mechanic. But the game is balanced around people who 1) have had their mind blown by what I just described, or 2) they still don't get it and never will. So go ahead and keep forcing that game balance strategy, and see how to works out.

because skull merchant got nerfed. when a killer is weaker overall, the killer plays more defensively to attempt up disadvantages from offensive nerf. Skull merchant is where she was before rework where going for chases is unrewarding, pressuring map is unrewarding, getting claw traps is pointless.

As a result, the player is 3 gen because there is nothing else left for killer to do. The survivor that are competent easily break 3 gen, killer loses and the killer player goes next. Skull merchant before her changes was not effective at offensive gameplay. Her base game and fall-back plan was always defensive. Since skull merchant now loses for playing offensive, your more likely to be playing on defensive because offensive play does not work. unfortunately her defensive is not good enough either so until her rework and reverts come along mid next year. She's going to be taking L's where many games are unwinnable.
