The Ghostface buffs miss the mark.... (pun intended)

Although it's great to see ghostface getting buffed, the buffs themselves don't really address any of the biggest issues that ghostface players struggle with in their matches. Some of these issues include:

-Getting revealed by hooked survivors, making ghostface a less effective stealth killer on outdoor maps

-Getting easily revealed by survivor disconnect BOTS due to their near perfect revealing accuracy

-Lean stalking being affected by servers

I think most players would prefer if the devs focused on addressing aspects of Ghostface gameplay that can make him sometimes feel annoying to play as, rather than giving him small, borderline pointless buffs.

If the devs really want to buff Ghostface, why not buff him in more meaningful ways? Here's some examples:

-Recharging 50% Night Shroud for downing a marked survivor (basekit buff, rewards ghostfaces who actually use their power)

-No longer starting chase while being both crouched AND in Night Shroud (to avoid accidentally starting chase while crouch walking when you don't want to)

-Cinch Straps addon basekit (there's literally no reason not to have this basekit unless you're using Olsen's Wallet every match)

-Survivors who are grabbed out of lockers and being carried cannot reveal ghostface

I hope my criticisms and suggestions have been helpful or informative. In my opinion, the current PTB buffs for ghostface are not very significant and don't really do much beyond lowering his skill floor.

I agree they do very little. Here's some other spitballed changes I thought up.

Why not change an addon to create a Hinder effect on Reveal? That could make reveal jank less painful for him.

Why not encourage more stealthy play and clever Shroud use in a chase by making Night Shroud give him a slight bit of haste, adding map mobility like Wraith? That would mimic the films.

Why not give him something like Drop-Leg basekit and rework addons like Chewed Pen that encourage bad camping playstyles? That encourages more addon use.

Why not Make him start in Shroud like Wraith, Sadako, and Myers? I see that as harmless enough and would give him early game potential easily.

Why not make it punishing for people to follow him and Reveal him constantly? Something like a 5 second Hinder could help or some added stalk progress might help.

Why does he still lose all his stalk progress on a hit? Why can't he punish body blocks, which coordinated Survs use to force a reset? Why does he need this limit? If he must have it why don't we make it so it loses only partial stalk, how come the stalker can "unstalk" a target this way?

Why not make his move speed in crouch be 110% so he isn't hindered by it so much? Why also not make him NOT slow down while approaching while stalking?

Why not make Marking even more rewarding by reworking an addon to give more info on a Mark or hide who is Marked from the other Survs to sow tension and paranoia? It could even make them scream, which has a use in creating split second pauses and opens viability for stuff that works when Survs scream.

I think the aim of the Ghostface changes was to encourage you to use other add ons beside Philly and Walleye’s. Which is a good idea, but unfortunately you still are better of using them over most add ons, especially Walleye’s. A 14 second cool down is just too good to ever pass up.

Walleye’s should honestly be completely base kit and then reworked into an entirely different add on. Without Night Shroud you literally have no power as Ghostface so as long as there’s a way to minimise that the add on will ALWAYS be his best one. The difference between 17 and 14 seconds is still game changing.

Other than that all I really think he needs is just some fixes to his jankiness.

    • Make revealing more consistent - easier for survivors to reveal him out in the open but fix the revealed through walls feeling.
    • Make his leaning easier. Too many times I go to lean on something that I know I can lean on only to find I’m not in the exact angle they want.
    • Also bring back his ability to lean on a short object and then stand and stay leaning. Don’t see why this was removed. It was fair and made leaning the maps more rewarding.
    • Hooked survivors should reveal Ghostface slower - but ONLY for the first 10 seconds or so of being hooked to prevent camping.
    • Agreed on making it so you can’t enter chase when crouched and in Shroud.
    • And yes, please make bots not know where he is at all times.

And then maybe some way to punish survivors who just follow Ghostie around all game revealing him.

Aye, this change doesn't actually do much. Why? The basekit buffs are WEAKER than the original addons, and both effects are so vital for ghostie. That means people will STILL have to continue to use those addons…so it's as if there isn't any buff, at all. Dropleg Knife Sheath should have been made basekit.

Adding a hindered effect after getting marked honestly might be too strong, plus a lot of Survivors really dislike playing against killers who can make them hindered. I don't want Ghostface to accidentally become Skull Merchant 2.0 and be forced to play against disconnect BOTs every match. (Also, Wesker has basekit hindered which was nerfed because of how much survivors dislike it).

It would be cool to have Drop Leg be basekit, but again, it might be too powerful. We can already use the perk "Play With Your Food" to gain haste, which is why it's an S tier perk on Ghostface (because he's an insta-down killer). Giving us Drop Leg basekit OR haste while in Night Shroud might honestly be overkill (Maybe not though, he is just an M1 killer afterall).

Not losing stalk progress on hit would be a very interesting change too. Really wish they would've let us test that in the PTB.

i'd just want 10% hindered for 3 seconds so pwyf isn't mandatory pick for him + ghostface base kill-rate and win-rate is way too low. they need buff his kill-rate and win-rate on average.

I think the reason why they don't want to reduce his cooldown to 14 seconds is because they're afraid of making Ghostface better at hit-and-run. Plus most solo survivors are potato brains who sometimes refuse to heal against a stealth killers.

Also, I'm pretty sure you can still you can still lean on a short object and stay leaning after standing up. It just depends on what object you're crouch leaning on (I could be wrong though, it's been months since I've tested this in custom games). A ghostface player named Kotzwurst called it "The Stand and Lean tech".

I think you can probably understand my logic though. The Ghostface players who still decide to use PWYF even if they add a basekit hindered effect would destroy 90% of their lobbies (that's me btw, I would still be using PWYF even if they added hindered 🤣). To be honest, I'm all for Ghostface becoming an A tier killer, so any buffs they want to give us are VERY welcome.

I dream so hard of him becoming A tier but I think we both know he never will be… :( I am more than satisfied with making him a solid B tier, there's absolutely no shame in being a middle of the road Killer and good Ghostface Mains already KNOW he IS in fact low B tier if played to his best.

I don't understand why they don't try to pull a Sadako and gigabuff him, then adjust down later?
