Jagged Compass should relocate hooks

Jagged Compass should not add NEW scourge hooks but relocate scourge hooks. This helps when all 4 scourge hooks spawn on one side of a map. But adding infinite scourge hooks to the map can be massively problematic.

For reference, I tested it and was able to change literally every hook (including basement hooks) to floods of rage/pain res hooks

I think this perk is like enduring to spirit fury and Franklins demise to weave attunement. It simply makes one perk work more consistently. This perk might not be to useful with pain res since Only works once per survivor but with floods of rage like you mention it makes getting value more often. I predict that this scourge hook is the bandaid to terrible rng that scourge hooks have and to make more scourge hooks perks later. It’s kinda funny I made a post not long ago saying why haven’t there been a scourge hook added in the game in 3 years and boom.

it is like dying light situation, what is the point of getting more scourge hooks when the game is over? why doesn't just spawn like 1/2/3 extra hooks? irrelevant perks as always.

survivor's get crazy perk to switch hook-states? so what, play is just slugging? shrug.

If you’re changing every hook to a scourge hook, then you aren’t getting any scourge hook value because you are only hooking on normal hooks.

Sure every hook now can activate Pain Res or Floods of Rage, but you’ve also never seen any auras or blown up any gens until the end game. You’re better off just getting one or two good Scourges in an easier to access location and then use that consistently rather than change multiple hooks.

this perk is not irrelevant because it eliminates scourge hook RNG for perks like gift of pain or floods of rage which are not useable precisely because of the fact they have to be activated on every hook which is not realistic.

it's not op, it's not useless. looking forward to seeing it on live because it will make less popular scourge hooks more meaningful. unless ofc people cry too hard about it and it gets ruined in some way like simply adding more scourge hooks (still makes you vulnerable to RNG and just ends up being another pain res combo / gets the synergy fixed and doesnt proc gift of pain/floods upon unhook which simply kills its viability).

the perk assumes that you get worst start on sc hook only to get better rng late game when the game is over….. the perk would be miles better if it just gave you more scourge hooks early game.

its fine as is and it guarantees value from floods/gift on every hook.

sorry it doesnt work as well with pain resonance, it's such a big shame that S tier meta perk doesnt get a synergy this time, i'd be so sad having to resort to alternatives to enjoy new off meta builds, what a shame

I really like the Perk. It does not have great synergy with pain res, which to be honest, in glad about. I don't need more people running that perk.

Pain Res is strongest in the early game to stop the first couple of gens from popping. This is not possible if your first couple of hooks are on normal one to change them.

A perk that has great synergy with jagged compass is pop due to it showing you the Gen with most progress.

I had huge success playing the two together.

Pop mostly brings the killer away from the hook, as does this new perk. Anything that discourages tunneling and camping while providing value is a win in my book.

    W perk!

Perfectly summarized. Honestly it's the most well rounded perk in the bunch this time. I don't have anything to complain about it really. Well done bhvr!

is increasing perk cost of pain res to 2 perk slots to make it reliable really that overpowered?

if you wanted to bring a perk to tell you which gen to pop goes weasel… tinkerer makes more sense.

It's not about power specificly. It's about the perk being obnoxiously common. I dont think the arguably strongest killer perk in the game should get another buff, no.

This perk is a lot more reliable than tinkerer, because you have pop ready when you get the info. When tinkerer triggers, there is no guarantee that you have pop up and running.

i am not. the only perk i'd ever use this with is gift of pain. i just don't the perk is good from running it. to me, it looks like dying light 2.0 for scourge hooks, does too little to matter. pain res is good filler perk but it doesn't need this perk to function.

You're not adding infinite scourge hooks, mainly because the only way to create a new scourge hook, is to use a non-scourge hook first.

So yeah, you can theoretically add 12 new scourge hooks, but you can never use them.

Considering most scourge perks either affect the survivor who's hooked, or trigger on unhooks, that reduces your viable 'scourgable hooks' to 8. So you have 8 hooks to play with, and have to choose between using a scourge perk effect or making a new scourge hook. So optimally, you're talking 4 new scourge hooks, but only getting half the value out of the perks that use those scourge hooks.

The only perk that isn't negatively affected by this is Pain Res because it only works 4 times anyway. But you're still relying on making 4 hooks first to prepare it.

Can you explain why this is problematic?

It doesn't allow you to instantly activate pain res which is the best scourge so that makes it balanced imo. It does allow you to activate floods of rage and gift of pain on every hook but i think thats fine, these perks have room for elevation without being too much.

I think the perk is decent and very good at best. I don't think it's too strong or even meta.

The perk on it's own does almost nothing. The perk only becomes useful in combination with one other scourge hooks. It solves the problem of bad RNG scourge hooks spawn and makes scourge hooks more accessible for the killer and get value out of. Also using pain res with the perk isn't that great, since it's only useable once per survivor.

when playing new killer, yes. it looked underwhelming. the perk where you fall from heights pairs well with coup the grace. when you read that perk, you wouldn't think it would be that good but it's kinda alright.

Honestly, Jagged Compass is a fine perk, I don't think it's busted. The strongest Scourge Hook, Pain Resonance, already has an inherent limiter in the form of tokens.

Jagged Compass is slow to set up, and requires you to specifically not get value out of a Scourge Hook to make new ones. It is not as good as you think it will be.

I had great success with it. Try it with pop. I'm certain it will be great for killers that try to go for many hooks and slow the game down naturally!

i tried it with Hangman's trick, jagged compass, pain res and gift of pain. idk late game you get global aura reading, mangled on every hook and all 4 pain res procs but it is little too late perk in my opinion. It would be much better if it just gave +3 SC spawns or maybe it converts the hook into sc as you hook instead after the unhook.

I don't think a full scourge hook build is good. Variety is king. I would play jagged Compas with something like gift of pain or floods of rage, pop and one more chase related perk like Stbfl.

Pain Res has no great synergy with it, as I mentioned before. I'm also not against that.

it's a perk that creates scourge hooks. isn't entire point of the perk to be used with 3 other scourge hook perks? right now it's not good at that. i can easily replace pain res with Monstrous shrine and it will still suck until end game. if the perk worked little differently or gave bonuses immediately than these obscure perks that normally are not that good would be more useful. I don't see this perk as worthwhile so i am likely not going to use it. that is my personal opinion.

It's one effect of the perk. The other is showing you the Gen with the most progress. You need to look at it as a whole package.

I'm not trying to bring you to use it. I use huntress lullaby a lot while knowing it's bad.

What I want you to see is, that it has its place and is decent at what it does. It's not too situational and has synergy with more than 3 perks. Is it a just "put on-get huge value" - kind of perk?

No. And I'm glad about it. Most of these prove to be problematic in the long run.
