Hook Stages HUD On Each Survivor for Killer When?
If a killer is gonna tunnel they already know who's on death hook. Hiding hook stages count for each survivor only annoys killers who go for 8 hook 0 kills, which is annoying to keep track of. Giving killers this HUD info rewards this challenging and healthy playstyle which should always be encouraged

If they are going to introduce perks that manipulate Hook states then the killer NEEDS to have this type of information now.

hook stages aren't actually hidden information for the killer, there's no reason to obsfuscate them aside from making the game more tedious
if this HUD element were in the game the idea of removing it would be laughable

because people would use that info to ensure they tunnel specific people more than they would use it for good.

The HUD won’t do anything for those who severely tunnel, but for those who don’t want to tunnel it will help a lot

I kinda want this so that I can't accidentally kill survivors during anniversary cake fests if they're using perks I can't see to shift hook states around.
"Just count them" doesn't work anymore, no matter how you're trying to use that information.

If I'm going to tunnel then I'm too focused on tunneling to forget who I'm tunneling. Killers only struggle to remember who they've hooked when they're NOT tunneling.

thank you for helping people like me out

To help tunneling even more

new survivor perk does exactly that - killer knows who sucked up the hook stage.
the killer doesnt know who lost the stage though, but that's easier to track either way

Tunnelers will keep on tunneling with or without this info. It helps those who (like myself) wants to avoid tunneling. Even unintentional

If you're tunneling, you're already counting hooks, and you know who had the hook state taken from them because there was only one survivor you were pressuring in the first place. This helps players who spread hooks much more than it helps tunnelers.

I struggle to keep track of who I've hooked as it is. I would love the hook counter in the HUD. The "it'll help tunnelers" thing has always baffled me. When I've had matches where I tunneled someone, I can tell you, I would never have needed to glance at the HUD. What a ridiculous notion, that someone focusing on one survivor would need help counting to three.
In terms of the new perk… My feeling right now is, if I'm playing to double hook and nothing else and someone uses Shoulder the Burden, that's on them. It's not fair to hook someone three times because someone else used a perk, anyway. My head barely has the space for keeping track of who's been hooked how many times by my own hand. I try to pay attention to whether or not someone reaches second state, but this? Shoulder the Burden is the survivor's burden, not mine.

how does it help you?

Two scenarios.
If I'm an ordinary killer who's throwing hooks wherever but wants to get serious once the gates get closer to being powered, this tells me who to target without me having to play hardball from the start, and doesn't punish me for playing looser at the beginning of the game.
If I'm a friendly killer who's going for the 8-hook, or at least 8-hook before I kill anyone, this prevents me from accidentally killing someone early because they went to second stage, because they took a hook stage, or because I just plain got confused.

I could have sworn killers were able to see the hook states awhile back.

It'd be a good change but average survivors would get their knots in a twist if it ever happened and their opinions are the loudest.

In the past I would have said no, but after the release of the survivor HUD update, there is very little reason not to provide that information to killers. The tunneling argument is pretty weak since, as others have said, there will always be people who tunnel anyway, regardless of the info. That and if they are tunneling, there is an extremely high chance they are already counting hooks in the first place.
At this point its just a QoL thing. There is a lot to keep track of mentally for either side, and since most survivor HUD info includes statuses to completion for various tasks, hook counters would be a similar change.

If we're going to have perks that manipulate hookstages, then yes - the Killer should see hookstages, even if it's only while they are hooking. It's just QoL at this point. There is SO MUCH Killers need to keep track of: how to use the power and when, map knowledge, what perks FOUR DIFFERENT PEOPLE may have, how long they have, hookstages, should I slug here or tunnel here or not, should I brute force this - and they cannot offload any of that onto teammates.
Regardless of the info you get, this wouldn't make tunnelling any more appealing. We all thought that giving Survivors the Sabo buff would make that more appealing too but no, most people just use toolboxes on gens. Most Killers don't actually tunnel that hard on purpose, so hookstages being shown wouldn't be an issue either. I don't need hookstages counted when I tunnel, I need hookstages counted when I am NOT tunnelling especially when there are four of the same friggin' Surv in the same cosmetic.
Besides, it's an accessibility issue. Some people like me have ADHD and forget who they hooked last easily. Some people have issues with split second memory. Some people like me have Autism and get overwhelmed and overstimulated by a lack of info, or don't process some kinds of information the same as a neurotypical person does. A tool like hookstages giving visual feedback is helpful for these people.
