Remove totems from 2vs8
They do absolutely nothing but waste the survivor's time.

Anything to slowdown the outrageous Gen speeds should stay imo

No, they should leave them in so people can get extra BP and do old cleanse totem tome challenges.

I was watching my friend play 2v8. He would cleanse totems and killers would stop him and cage him… which, unless I misread the notes, speeds up gen progress. Happened multiple times and it just made me chuckle.

I believe that someday, we're going to have boons and hexes.

This. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next iterations of 2v8 there were new classes that could potentially create boon or hex totems.

Totems are good to be left alone so that people can grind out old tome challenges relating to totems.

Double this. Adding boons and Hexs will add side objectives to help slowdown the game down especially if they have pentimento in a hex class

They help with challenges such as cleanse 20 totems and add BP which all adds up especially with the crazy high incentive bonus on survivor.

I agree. It, and the inclusion of SO MANY chests, are horrible design decisions for this mode. It's a beginner's trap! Right? The fact that new/casual survivors will see these things and think "I MUST do them, because they're there" is what ruins the match for those other survivors who are trying to be efficient and win. You cannot simultaneously balance the game for people doing pointless side objectives AND those who ignore those objectives to do the main one do they can win. It's impossible. I know, the chests have items that could be useful, especially flashlights. But you would just put the normal amount of chests, 4 or whatever, so that survivors can* get items without getting distracted on them all of the time. You wouldn't put chests and totems everywhere, which don't do anything to advance the match.
