Is DBD currently survivor sided?

Tbf, Drac and Chucky are still A tier killers, Myers is expecting buffs in the next patch too, though I doubt they'll be too impactful on his tierlist placement and strength.

The gen perk nerfs were awhile and I agree for the most part, some were just plainly unnecessary like Deadlock and Dead Man's Switch, two perks that can be used against the killer and made essentially useless if survivors actually tap 0% gens or 99 a gen outside of a 3 gen.

Generators are definitely too fast when survivors split pressure. This is where Deadlock should be basekit or they have the 2v8 slowdown mechanic in 1v4 to give killers a chance to catch up. Gen speeds should also be capped/not stack in some situations. Overzealous is very strong when paired with boon: coh, you get 10% speed until damaged and you can freely heal your teammates at high speeds (were in a speed healing meta right now too, so it doesn't help that theres always one guy running Botany, Do No Harm and We'll Make It. Healing soeed should also be capped, though not unstackable). Pair Overzealous with deja vu and prove thyself and you can knock out any 3 gen in less than a minute. It doesn't help that gen kicks are limited and only do 5% as well, thats way too small.

The games kinda been survivor sided since it released. The common misconception behind why people think its the other way around is stats and solo queue being a thing. MMR is far from perfect, getting an inaccurate matchup skews the killrate stats, and this happens in majority of games, since the game prioritizes faster queue times over a fair, quality matchup. Killer supposedly has around a 56-57% killrate, and the target is 60%, this is only like this because of how poor matchups in low MMR are. High MMR actually has smart, competent players and often SWFs, which is why most matches against people like these result in 1 kill or 6 stages at best, when you're not playing an A+ tier or S tier killer, its difficult against survivors who know the ins and outs of the game. If survivor was put on the killer tierlist, they'd be equivalent to an S+ tier character. Theres just so many factors, I can't explain jt all but the game is survivor sided. It always has been, and unfortunately it probably always will be.

    • I think if you're really "good" (both survivor and killer) you can win without any problem. The difference between survivors and killers is that the killer plays alone (so if I want to play "well" nothing stops me... the most famous example is the thousands of victories in a row of some killer mains) but the survivors have to rely on their teammates, therefore also on the skills of others.

Occasionally I play killers that I don't have as high MMR in, like Knight or Nemesis, and absolutely wreck face with a quirky off meta build.... Survivors make embarrassingly bad mistakes that let's me win effortlessly.

Killers I play more often, usually Pig, Trapper, or Bubba, I tend to get tougher matches, that go to the wire, where I can quite often win, but Survivors are snapping at my heals... but every now and again, I get an absolutely insane set of Survivors who run circles around me, never fall for a single mind game, make every save, and squeeze every tile for everything it's worth before chaining to nee tiles and doing the same, and at end game swanning out the gate with me barely scoring 3 or 4 hooks.

Anyone saying the game is Killer sided on a A+ tier killer against casual lobbies is a very obvious "no duh"... but playing anything B tier or below and claiming the same is a flat out lie. Yes you'll beat scrubs, but genuinely good players will humble you pretty fast.

on paper it's survivor sided but if you play via matchmaking and not via a discord server it's killer sided purely because the killer can't be griefed by the teammates they don't have

Gotta appreciate the irony of banned forum users confidently declaring which side the game favors, despite clearly not playing it themselves.

Let’s be real, trials only seem survivor-sided when the killer decides to play a weak or low-tier character. Yeah, maps and RNG can tilt things a bit one way or the other (BHVR has said as much), but killers can literally pick an S-tier and steamroll their way to 1000+ winstreaks if they want to, which is one of DbD's current problems.

And no, you can’t use third-party comms as proof the game’s unbalanced. That’s outside the game. It’s external help, and even then, the stats don’t lie, SWFs still lose more often than they win, so imagine how Solo Q feels like for a moment.

I’d also like to add that BHVR has said multiple times they don’t want the game to be perfectly balanced , they prefer having killer-sided and survivor-sided maps, and aim for a 60/40 kill-to-escape ratio, for example.

I think killers gonna have 10% rate above than survivors no matter what. Just to keep it balanced around asymmetrical genre and that fact that killer is considered as power role. Because it’s simply more simple to bring meta on killer, while for survivor to bring actual meta they require to be in full stack. Always

But if bringing the highest point of potential meta both sides can bring this potentiality is way higher for survivors. You can win against everyone below S tier if bring comms, and simply playing the most safe possible with all items you possibly can get. One survivor with anti slug, one survivor with reset, one survivor with rescue off hook build, one survivor with chase build. Everyone has DS on top — killer don’t have way of pressuring even if he’ll bring the dirtiest strat possibly.

I thinking this sounds kinda logic. Survivors will be potentially able to be boosted at their highest point as possible, but you are unlikely able to pull of this trick on routine basis because it requires 4 people with same level and time schedule sitting in Discord

Killers are less busted by mechanics, but able to pull it more frequently
