Scourge Hook: Jagged Compass has unlocked the full scourge build!

My favorite builds typically run 2 info perks and 2 gen slow down perks. Jagged Compass and Floods of Rage are 2 info perks and Pain Resonance and Gift of Pain are 2 slow down perks. Jagged Compass taking the RNG out of scourge hook placement was the missing piece. Full scourge hook builds are 100% viable now. I don't know if it'll be meta it's works well and imho is balanced too.

I've become a fan of that as well. The only thing I've run into is that it requires a good start, otherwise you're down to 2 gens right as you get your first hook, then things just get worse from there.

That is true. If you don't hook survivors then it is basically playing with 0 perks. But once you get a rhythm going, things proceed pretty smoothly. Hooking a survivor lets you know which gen has most progress to start your next chase while also damaging the gen to buy time for you to rotate over there. When the hooked survivor gets unhooked, you get good info to keep the chases going and the unhooked survivor is wasting extra time getting healed and making less gen progress which helps you keep the chain going.

Scourge Hook: Jagged compass is one of the best things that came out of this new chapter release. Such a fantastic perk in my opinion, even if you do not run full scourge hook builds. I've only been using it with Pain Resonance so far and it's still a very valuable perk in my opinion.

It basically just took the spot of agitation in alot of people's scourge hook builds. This isn't even mentioning the info part.

Yeah, this perk is VERY good compliment to the other scourge hook perks.

Can make a full scourge hook build now that includes info+gen regression.

Tho I have a fair question:

    Is this:

    Better than this?:

While the interaction with Gift Of Pain and Floods Of Rage is neat (i. e. any hook being a Scourge Hook for their purposes), I think what's most interesting about the perk is its actual effect of showing the gen with the most progress. Dead Man's Switch's recent change has arguably been a buff, and with Jagged Compass, you will always know which gen it is most beneficial to proc on. This especially goes for killers that can force survivors off gens at a distance of course, such as Artist or Knight, but also killers with teleportation abilities (e. g. Freddy or Dredge), as well as high-mobility killers in general.

Jagged Compass, Pain Res, Grim Embrace and DMS is a really strong build. I would like to fit Gift Of Pain in there, but both Pain Res and Grim are just too good with DMS to justify dropping them. I have also heard that Gift Of Pain is not working properly with Compass currently, its action speed penalty not applying if hooked on a hook that wasn't a Scourge to begin with.

I think they could even go a little further with the perk though and make it so that kicking the highlighted gen incurs an increased continual regression, of 200% base regression.

"Better" is difficult to say. I think an argument could be made that it is the better snowball build. So how well you chain together your downs is everything. I also think that not all killers are created equally so there isn't just one correct answer. The advantage to the bottom build is that half the build doesn't require hooking survivors. The advantage to the scourge hook build is that you aren't forced to waste time running around kicking gens and you can focus on chaining chases together. So I would say the scourge hook build is the higher risk, higher reward build. Try it on a couple killers and see what you think.

I really like the full Scourge Build on Xeno.

Hangman's, Gift, Floods and Jagged just make me feel like I am creating a large nest over the map.

Due to the lack of Facehuggers, Gift of Pain is sort of like infecting a survivor after the hook.

Hangman's just let's me see where people are, and if I can spread pressure well enough, I get almost map wipe aura. The map is my territory now.

Floods is just uber useful, stops survivors from being able to hide.

Jagged is an amazing perk I didn't know I needed or wanted.
