VPN abuse

Dear Devs,

Will there ever be a time where you address the use of VPN and start to ban for this blatant cheating? Using a VPN to get an advantage in a party game is one step down from hacking and going against killers with 300+ ping is terrible behaviour.

How would they know if a VPN is being used or not? Many players are far from the DBD servers, particularly in Asia and South America, causing brutal pings too.

Personally I would just make it so that if you're ping is over 100, you can't access that lobby. Also, give Asia and South America their own servers. No reason for them not to have their own.

I'm all for better server coverage globally, but I'm not sure it'll ever happen. Also Australia is still using metal instead of fiber so their pings are rough as well, and for whatever reason they're popped into multiple regions constantly too.

I imagine a third to half of all DBD players worldwide have ping over 70.

Really needs a ping limit of 100 on games. I play from east coast i can still play on the west coast servers at 70 ping. VPN abuse is on killers picking servers they have 150-300 ping on to get free hits as a hit on their screen right now is a hit for server.

The lack of response from the devs on this issue IS their answer. This problem has been commonly complained about for years, and BHVR have completely ignored it. Not only do they refuse to have ping limits for lobbies, they also refuse to show you other players' pings until after the match starts. So if you load in with a VPN-abusing killer (or someone who just has a very poor connection), you are forced to play a miserable and unfair match unless you want to leave which of course then punishes you (the innocent victim) with a DC penalty instead of the person who should be punished which is the VPN-abuser/person with crappy internet. At MINIMUM, we should be able to see other people's pings in the lobbies (ESPECIALLY THE KILLER'S PING) so that we can decide whether or not we want to play an unfair match.

I fully admit I am biased being a survivor main these days…

But I would like to see it for killers in particular as I feel that it gives killers such an advantage it borders on exploiting. I use ExitLag to play west coast NA from OCE but I ONLY play survivor and I feel it puts me at a significant disadvantage. As playing survivor at ~160ms ping means I frequently get hit 10 feet through windows and through pallets so I cant greed at all.

I notice playing on NA I get a lot of killers from Asia with 250ms+ ping, when they could be playing Singapore etc and have significantly lower ping. So I find it hard to believe they are not exploiting intentionally
