Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The Trapper begins the match, silent, calculating—he does not chase. The forest feels eerily empty, a sinister stillness settling over the map. The survivors, initially oblivious, grow uneasy, their curiosity gnawing at them like rats in the walls. What has he been doing?

They move as one, creeping towards his territory, only to find the Trapper waiting, his massive frame looming beside four perfectly aligned bear traps, each set for its prey. Shock ripples through the group as realization dawns too late—the Trapper’s game has already begun.

One by one, they step forward, their movements hesitant, almost hypnotic, until—SNAP! A chorus of four blood-curdling screams pierces the air, a horrific harmony as they all step into the traps simultaneously. Panic erupts. They writhe and thrash, desperate to free themselves, their eyes darting to each other, their shared suffering reflected in wide, horrified gazes.

But freedom comes at a cost. They all manage to escape their traps—except Jill. The survivors freeze, their collective breath caught in their throats, as the Trapper descends upon her like a shadow, dragging her struggling form to the nearest hook. The metallic clang of the hook pierces the night, her cries echoing as her teammates can only watch, paralyzed by fear.

The process repeats—methodical, merciless—until there are only three survivors. Then two. Dwight and Meg exchange glances, their faces pale under the moonlight. Behind them, the exit gates stand at 99%, ready and waiting. They could leave. They could survive. But to leave would be to admit they are no better than the 10,000-hour Nurses and sweat-soaked Blights they have spent so long condemning. The realization weighs heavy, yet it pulls them forward.

They stay. Against all logic, they choose to face the Trapper one last time.

The Trapper watches, his presence as unyielding as the traps that have already claimed so many. Meg falters, lagging just behind Dwight. She stumbles, the cold steel jaws of a trap snapping shut around her leg with a sickening crunch. Dwight looks back, just as the fog begins to curl around Meg’s fleeing form—she escapes.

But Dwight’s hesitation seals his fate. In a flash, the Trapper pounces, his massive hands dragging Dwight into the darkness. The match ends, not with a bang, but with the weight of choices made, and the inescapable feeling that, in this game, the Trapper always wins.
