Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Let me take you on a journey of heartbreak dear reader...

Background

So as some background... I am somewhat of a DBD scientist myself... I look for alternative/weird methods of making perks and items work. As an example a build I'm quite proud of:

  • Engineers Toolbox (purple 100% repair speed one)
  • Instructions (no skillchecks) and Wire Spool (12 extra charges) add-ons.
  • Streetwise
  • Stake Out
  • Autodidact
  • Scavenger

You dump your engineers toolbox ASAP, hopefully while building stacks with Stake Out, and none of them consumed while you're emptying your toolbox. You then use Stake Out to get your toolbox back with Scavenger, with Autodidact also not wasting your Stake Out stacks on Healing. I like this build cause it's genuinely more useful to use an Engineers Toolbox than a Commodius, since you can start getting it back sooner.

In this way I have genuine unironic use for Engineers Toolbox over Commodius Toolbox and the Instructions add-on. Mission accomplished 🤘😁🤘

A New Mission

In a similar vein I set out on a mission to find the best way to use Bardic Inspiration without having to rely on Deadline or Hyperfocus madness... Obviously we want more skillchecks for Bardic to get the most value... and the principle was this...

If you use a toolbox: -

  • the chance of getting a skillcheck is 40%
  • the time your toolbox lasts = the number of charges you have divided by the repair speed (charges per second)

Now the number of charges is self explanatory, the more the better, but for our purposes on Bardic Inspiration, we want the slowest repair speed possible, as the slower we repair, the longer we keep our charges, thus the more we get of our 40% skillcheck chance... combine our toolbox with Streetwise and Max Charges add-ons, we're cooking on gas for a looooooong use of our toolbox...

Now we know that Commodius Toolbox is better for charges, but what about repair speed? Which toolbox is our SLOWEST toolbox... Alex's toolbox...

At this I got excited... could it be when combined with Bardic Inapiration, Alex's Toolbox is actually better!?

No in short... because the sheer number of dumped in charges from the Commodius is gonna outweigh any value BI is gonna give us... but can we at least get the most time out of Alex's Toolbox to maximise Bardic Inspiration Value specifically?

Let's get mathin'...

Commodius Toolbox:

  • Base: 32 charges at 1.5c/s = 21.333s
  • Add-ons: 52 charges at 1.5c/s = 34.667s
  • Streetwise: 65 charges at 1.5c/s = 43.333s
  • 20% Thanataphobia: 65 charges at 1.2c/s = 54.167s

And for the moment of truth!!!!

Alex's Toolbox:

  • Base: 18 charges at 1.1c/s = 16.364s 🫤
  • Add-ons: 38 charges at 1.1c/s = 34.545s 😒
  • Streetwise: 47.5 charges at 1.1c/s = 43.182s 🫣
  • 20% Thanataphobia: 47.5 charges at 0.88c/s = 53.997s 😭

........ Sometimes peering behind the veil is truly soul crushing...

Plz BHVR... buff Alex's Toolbox to 24 charges... I need this to be true 🥺🥺🥺🥺
