Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

So... After Enough Time... Is Meet Your Maker Officially Dead?

Meet Your Maker was honestly a lot of fun, and I loved it more than Dead By Daylight since the UGC (User Generated Content) allowed for a lot of interesting and fun challenges to deal with.

This being said, the development of the game was slow, it had an amazing concept but there was not really enough substance there for players to really come back to the game that often, mainly due to a lack of Trap and Guard diversity left a lot of players wanting more from the game.

None of this is to say that the game was "bad", but it needed more content to support the creativity that comes with a UGC focused game.

And then they announced that "we (the community) have seen all that the world of Meet Your Maker has to offer" and that future updates would contain nothing but cosmetics, which marked the moment BHVR started carving out a gravestone for the game.

Around this time I went back played to get all the achievements I missed, just so I could say that I 100% the game.

Recently I went back to try it out and it wasnt that bad, Im surprised the game still has some level of support. It actually is a shame that the game is effectively abandoned, it had so much potential to be something amazing but will never have the opportunity to reach that potential. :(

(Also for those wondering, the "Meet Your Maker" forum page just redirects to the Steam page for the game. You actually cannot comment in the Meet Your Maker forum anymore.)

I heard about mym once when I came out saw a snippet of gameplay and then completely forgot it existed or that BHVr made it until I saw the mym pfp options when making my forum acc a few weeks ago. It was a cool idea and it didn't look bad gameplay wise I just wasn't ever interested in giving it a try for some reason.

It was a game designed around active user participation. It would hit or miss.

Raiding being more of a Puzzle-shooter is much more of an FPS niche.

Builders being incentivized to make those puzzles as annoyingly difficult as possible instead of as engaging as possible certainly doesn't help.

And as you note, the puzzles having a lack of variety (hear warning, get defensive/shoot, or see enemy and shoot, reach core) didn't help either.

I'd have preferred more interesting buildcrafting/progression for the Raider role myself, but that's from the perspective of a builder type player.

I enjoyed the game and being able to watch raiders playback was nice especially when I saw Otz had raided one of my bases. I'm not entirely sure why it wasn't more successful but likely could have done with more variety sooner and more incentive to play
