The entity's realm explored the 9 circles of the underworld

Before anyone says I'm reaching for the stars a bit , I want you to notice something in Dantes writings he talks about being a dark wood, where most of our survivors end up even Alan wake in the Alan wake trailer shows up.
Next thing he talks about is that being in the wood renews his fear, I believe this could be the killers terror radius, which all survivors can feel whenever the killer is near.
Now next in his writings he mentions encountering 3 animals , now if we can take away those there are many unknown creatures that we had yet to experience in beyond the fog barriers. You can say that this is the entity lurking beyond the safety of the barrier ,but my point will still stand we don't know exactly what is out there.
Next you have his guide Virgil who accompany's dante through out this who crazy realm, now here's the crazy part who is the one guy who knows everything about the realm and yet somehow escaped or remains a mystery Vigo.
Now according to dante their are 9 different levels of the underworld , with each one getting slightly worse than the last.
We can We can attribute The Entity making the trials to make both Survivor and killer suffer so it can feed on the raw emotions.
Now before anyone says that's just coincidence I can pinpoint several other places in myths but most notably in the Greek myth where it's just a big oppressive fog.
The Fields of Asphodel , where those that lived nether a good life or a bad life wonder aimlessly through a big black fog. Sounds familiar?
