Balancing & Fairness: The Elephant in the Room! - Perma-Killer Advantage
When will the devs address the elephant in the room? The perpetual advantage granted to The Killer! I'm discussing how hits are still handled on The Killer end and a lightweight joke known as Server-Side Hit Validation.
Why doesn't the game move to Sever-Side Hit Authority? The servers are neutral; let them decide the hits and make it fair for everyone. "Favor The Shooter" works in FPS games and makes sense because everyone is a shooter, but "Favor The Killer" permanently favors one (or two) players at the expense of four (or eight) in every match.
It's the one topic many don't know about, and if they did, they wouldn't support a design philosophy that favors The Killer over every Survivor.

If the hits are generous for the killer, you've just got to play around that. Take it into account when you loop. It's why I don't really mess with Resilience or Finesse, because they still rely on people having good connection. And there's plenty of rollback on the killer end as well: rollback hits at pallet stuns, auto-aim (hitting the wall/pallet instead of the survivor), even rollback on the killer picking up a survivor (???).
I don't see them being worse than what we used to have, which was killers lunging WAY through windows/pallets, forcing you to play everything super safe. It might've been that way to play around the old pallet vacuums/fast vaults from any angle.

There's no if, the system is called Favor The Killer. It can't get any more explicit and precise than that lol.
So, why play around it? Why is the answer never to making it fair for everyone and letting the server be the authority? I can answer that, but many won't like it. Killer players are accustomed to the luxury of hits being handled on their end. And it will be a considerable undertaking for the devs to wean these people off of systems they rely on. This was evident when the developers implemented dedicated servers, DH, and pallet validation. We saw many killer players complain about "fairness" regarding rejected hits. We were flooded with videos of DH and pallet stuns undoing hits, and the developers just reverted some of those changes to placate Killer streamers. They also dedicated a section of a previous stream reassuring killers that your laggy connection is still king and your hits will continue to prevail! I think the pig threshold is 350 or higher for hit validation to activate, which is insanely high and why we often see generous hits land. But Survivors should accept this unfairness and no one has ever explained why. GG.

This topic is how you know this community is one-sided by a significant margin. Who would be against implementing a fair and neutral networking design? The people (hint: not Survivors) that benefit from it - that's who. This is making Survivors not want to play, Favor The Killer needs to go.
