Why there should be a rat man or a skin walker what do you think
The Skinwalker: A Terrifying Shape-Shifter from Native American Folklore
The Skinwalker is a creature deeply rooted in Native American folklore, particularly among the Navajo tribe. According to legend, a Skinwalker is a person with the ability to transform into any animal they choose, often using this power for malevolent purposes. Skinwalkers are known to be manipulative and deceptive, making them one of the most feared entities in Native American culture. The Skinwalker’s ability to shapeshift would make for an exciting and terrifying addition to the killer roster of Dead by Daylight.
One of the most compelling reasons to add a Skinwalker is the thematic depth it could bring to the game. The concept of shape-shifting adds an element of unpredictability, which is vital in a game where players must constantly adapt and react to an ever-changing environment. The Skinwalker’s ability to transform into different animals—such as wolves, bears, or even crows—could add a new layer of complexity to the killer's abilities. For instance, it could allow the Skinwalker to track survivors more easily by transforming into a predatory animal or to stalk survivors silently by becoming a small, stealthy creature.
In terms of gameplay, the Skinwalker could possess the ability to disguise themselves as a survivor or temporarily assume the appearance of another killer, adding confusion and mistrust among survivors. The thrill of not knowing whether a teammate is truly a survivor or a Skinwalker in disguise would create an atmosphere of constant tension. Furthermore, the Skinwalker's lore and design could be carefully crafted to pay respect to Native American traditions, adding a layer of authenticity while still fitting within the world of Dead by Daylight.
The Rat Man: A Sinister Creature of Urban Legend
The Rat Man, a lesser-known but equally chilling figure, is based on various urban legends about a human-like creature that dwells in dark, abandoned places such as sewers, tunnels, and basements. The Rat Man is often described as a grotesque, rat-like figure that has adapted to live in the shadows of human society. This eerie creature would make an excellent addition to the Dead by Daylight roster, bringing an entirely new kind of terror to the game.
The Rat Man’s presence would play into the game’s existing atmosphere of claustrophobia and dread. Survivors would face the challenge of navigating tight spaces and dimly lit environments while being stalked by a creature that thrives in the shadows. The killer's design could be based on the disturbing imagery of a man with rat-like features—sharp teeth, glowing eyes, and an unsettling, twitchy appearance. The killer’s movements could also be inspired by the erratic behavior of rodents, adding to the sense of unease that comes from being pursued by something unpredictable and unnerving.
In terms of gameplay mechanics, the Rat Man could excel in ambush tactics, using his intimate knowledge of confined spaces to catch survivors off guard. He might have the ability to blend into dark corners or scurry through hidden tunnels, making him difficult to detect until it’s too late. A unique mechanic could involve the Rat Man spreading infectious "rat swarms" that debuff survivors, causing them to suffer from hallucinations, slowed movement, or even the risk of infection. These swarms would force survivors to make a difficult choice: attempt to find a cure or try to continue the game while dealing with the disorienting effects.
Additionally, the Rat Man’s potential to scavenge and trap survivors within environments that are tight, narrow, or underground would give players a fresh gameplay experience. His ability to lure survivors into his lair, much like how rats are drawn to confined spaces, could allow for new, horrifying strategies and ambushes.
Why Both Additions Would Enhance Dead by Daylight
Both the Skinwalker and the Rat Man offer gameplay opportunities that could make Dead by Daylight even more unpredictable and intense. The Skinwalker’s shapeshifting abilities would add a psychological layer to the game, as survivors would never know who they can truly trust. The Rat Man, on the other hand, would introduce claustrophobic, urban horror elements, giving players a new type of horror to experience that’s grounded in the fear of being trapped and hunted in tight, dark spaces.
In addition to their unique gameplay mechanics, both of these killers would contribute to the growing mythos of Dead by Daylight. The game has always thrived on blending elements of folklore, urban legends, and original horror concepts into a rich narrative that keeps players coming back for more. Adding the Skinwalker and Rat Man would diversify the game’s offerings, ensuring that no two killers are alike and each match feels like a fresh, terrifying challenge.

These both suck I'm sorry
Dont mind the choice I picked, I think they both are very interesting and fun ideas, the skin walker would be more fun while the rat man could be more useful, at least in theory.
I think the rat man may be hard to implement and design, as well and bearing slight similarities to a number of different killers. But the skin walker is a very fun idea, imagine if we got a third person camera option for him too due to his ability? They'll never trust another survivor again, It's Brilliant!
I think to make slightly more useable not just fun, his shapeshift ablity should work like the wraiths' cloak, quick to activate, you remove the charade then get a speed boost to catch up. Its a little similar to the wraith, but in premise its quite cool.

I chose Rat man but I'd love to see both brought into the game

rat man
I wish you made an option to choose both, because I'd happily take both!
As it stands, rat swarms are what sold me. It felt something a bit unique to face, and I started thinking of the swarms from "A Plague's Tale" and when they become hulking tornado-type enemies.
